Jehan Perara’s article , « Economic and Political costs of over extending Military  Role» has been published in the DBS Jeyaraj’s  anti government website TransCurrent.

And DBS Jeyaraj makes his own comments in presenting Jehan Perera’s article. This is to examine his comments.

What have they against the Sri Lanka Armed Forces unless they want to be in the good books of the anti Sri Lanka Western Countries, perhaps hoping for a few priviledges falling into their laps.

The Sri Lanka Armed Forces are an integral part of our Nation and our country. Our Armed Forces cannot be compared to any other Armed Force in the world such as that of the  NATO. Our Soldiers had been battered by a ruthless villainous terrorists, who were  pampered and strengthened by  the International Community, which despite banning the terrorist group, allowed the expatriate Tamils settled in their countries to form terrorist front organizations and collect funds to help terrorists in Sri Lanka to continue their massacres, murders and subjugation of  poor Tamil civilians in  the areas under their control .

The soldiers of our Armed forces did not take arms against the Tamil people of Sri Lanka.  They  were conscious that they were fighting a war against the Tamil terrorists and not against the ordinary Tamil people, who they were ever ready to help, whether they were  running away from the terrorists or were among the terrorist kept by them as a human shield.

They the soldiers  were brothers, sons and even fathers to Tamil Community harassed by the terrorists and forced to be  their slaves.  When they were being rescued, the Soldiers carried the old in their arms, wounded were helped to walk, the children were fed.  When they were in the IDP camps they were provided security at risk to their own lives.  When they travelled the soldiers  were their guards providing security, and their wants.  Now the war is over , and DBS Jeyaraj mourns , “Hello Friends, The war may be over but the Armed forces of Sri Lanka continue to play an assertive role in the affairs of the Country. »

But what was DBS Jeyaraj doing all that time , he was certainly before a computer in a warm comfortable room writing articles in favour of terrorists, and against Government Armed Forces, which he still continues to do.

To day the war against terrorism is over.  But is terrorism over ?  It is people like DBS Jeyaraj and Jehan Perera who give hope for “sleeping terrorists” to lie low until space is provided  for them to be awakened. 

Therefore the presence of soldiers is a boon to our nation and also to ungrateful Tamils who will again be provided security and protection and IDP camps in case the attempts of  pseudo patriotic Tamils like Jeyaraj, Pakiasothy Saravanamutta, Kumar David , Jehan Perera  et al , will succeed to  revive terrorism once again.
If there were to be terrorism once again in Sri Lanka it will not be Jehan Perera and  DBS Jeyaraj who will take arms against them; it will again be the Sinhala Buddhist Soldiers from Sinhala villages in the South who will sacrifice their lives to protect both the country and the  people of all races and religions.  Therefore, no one can question the right of the soldiers and the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka playing  an assertive role in the affairs of the Country. Because it is on them that we will have to fall back, if the necessity arises.

What is wrong in our soldiers opening , shops and cafes ? The complaint had been that they were carrying guns,  and the Tamil people did not feel safe, but now they complain that they are working, running shops, cafes and boutiques.  The Tamils should at least be happy that they are not carrying guns but being of service to the people, that is to them the Tamils.

DBS Jeyaraj has some difficulty to think objectively and reason out for himself the useful role that had been played by the Armed Forces and that it will play again if the necessity arises.
DBS Jeyaraj writes as if he is a Nostradamus or some such wizard, « This is more pronounced in the 

Northern and Eastern provinces of the Country where the armed forces continue to dominate many spheres of everyday life in the regions where Tamils are a preponderant majority. »  as if every thing is hunky dory  and there is no fear of some one in a nearby country training another group of terrorists to take over North and East.
The man should be daft, he seems to have forgotten that terrorism arose in the North and East, and today it is  the Tamils in the North and East  such as the Sampanthan and his TNA Tamil cohorts with their demand for  devolution of  political rights who  are going the length and breadth of the world complaining against the Sinhala Majority, inviting every one to help just the Tamil ethnic community, against a vicious Sinhala Majority Community. 

If the problem of terrorism were to raise its head again it will be in the North and the East. It is therefore necessary to have a permanent military presence in these two Provinces, whether DBS Jeyaraj, Jehan Perera and the TNA MPs like it or not.
In the South JVP will not begin a terror campaign again. If they do there is the means to thwart it.

DBS Jeyaraj need not worry about  any militarization of the South.  The Sinhala people understand, as they have always understood that the Sri Lanka soldiers are their children a part of the country, its citizenry.  The soldiers  are not there only to fight terrorism, burry the dead, clean tanks, build bridges and roads, and clean drains or closets. They  can also be employed like any other citizen to sell vegetables , stitch clothes or even overseer cricket grounds,  and give protection to the country and communities at the same time.  They don’t stand apart from the country and the people.

It is the Tamils like Jeyaraj who have a difficulty understanding not only the Soldiers, but also the Sinhala people, thinking only in terms of Tamils as the only community that has to be left alone, looked after and protected with full political rights devolved unto them.
Then DBS Jeyraja says, “ The increasing militarisation of society coupled with the increasing politicisation of the military is creating quite a dangerous climate in Sri Lanka. Arguably the defence secretary and Presidential sibling is “in practice” the most powerful man in the Island today.”  In any country the President and the Defense Secretaries are powerful and important.

In Sri Lanka the Defense Secretary, as the brother (the sibling as Jeyaraj prefers to call) of the President,  has become the person on whom the President could place trust and place his  confidence, and accept obedience and  support.  Therefore , he is an important person in the country to-day. It was he who played the deciding  role in coordinating the Security Forces in the elimination of the  terrorists.  Perhaps DBS Jeyaraj is reluctant to give him credit for that looking for faults to attack him as being the most powerful man, perhaps to create some sort of “ jealousy” amoung brothers- putting one against the other  a Tamil ploy !!!

Then he  pulls his last shot before presenting Jehan Perera’s article, “ All these developments trouble people concerned about the future well-being of the country. Some have begun speaking out or commenting publicly on this situation……..National Peace Council director and well -known analyst-commentator Jehan Perera has in a recent article referred to this situation. “ 

Who are these concerned people ?  Jehan Perera ? The anti Sri Lanka countries of the West ? TNA ? UNP ? and JVP ?  

They had always been against unity and progress.  Can we now expect any thing else from them. But the people Jeyaraj… the people….  at least those in the South knows that, “the future well-being of the country”, is being taken good care of by the President, his government and the Defence Secretary. That is what matters. 

The Tamil people including Jeyaraj, Jehan Perera are not grateful and  are not patriotic enough wanting to take care only of the Tamils, and if the occasion presents itself to divide the country,  to separate the North and East as a Tamil Homeland.

DBS Jeyaraj’s introduction to Jehan Perera’s article is a summary of it.  Therefore , at least for the moment it does not need a separate reply. If however on re-reading  I find it grossly in inappropriate, I will write a reply to  Jehan Perera who was  introduced by another  journalist Nalin Swaris as follows:

“  Jehan Perera remains an unrepentant advocate of the LTTE’s cause - even of LTTE post mortem. Perera seems to have undergone a make-over and become an unbiased political commentator. Consider his painless, noiseless move to The Island newspaper from The Daily Mirror. However, a discerning reader will be quick to see that though his writings have become subtler, his heart is still in the den. »

No doubt DBS Jeyaraj  seems so close to him.

Aren’t we going too far to develop tourism, and shouldn’t we be more selective in accepting foreign investment?

At last we know, that Sri Lanka is not to host the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Mr.Sunil Gunawardhana a veteran Sri Lanka athlete and coach has bemoaned that Sri Lanka had been denied the occasion after a thirty year war in its effort to reconcile the communities by  uncaring sportive bigwigs of the Commonwealth Games Federation voting 43 to 27 in favour of  Australia.

Those who voted against Sri Lanka were undoubtedly, mostly politically motivated Westerners  against developing Nation breaking new grounds in economic and social development.  It was expected , that despite the West becoming failed Nations to still bellow their war cries of NATO, and naval and air power in their united front against developing countries.  The 43-27 vote is another victory they claim over a developing poor nation after its failure to reprimand  and  send it to their “political gallows” for violation of human rights at the CHOGM meeting in Australia.

A pavement hawker Pradeep Silva, had said , "Why can't they give us a chance , This is the so-called mentality those rich countries still maintain. They think they are still the colonial masters, we have to obey them. I am happy that at least Sri Lanka made an effort."  How correct and that is how our ordinary  people feels despite what ever the BBC, Reuters, Agence France Press of the foreign Media, the  websites Sri Lanka Guardian, Transcurrent, TamilNet and Ground view ,  Al Jazeera and UKChannel 4 may have to say.
Sri Lanka today is a greater nation than the 47 nations that voted against us to keep the Commonwealth Games with them.  Because within a short time after elimination of a ruthless  terrorism, Sri Lanka has come out of its “poverty” label to become a middle income Nation. That is  no small achievement to a developing country that it was.  

Now it is time to turn to events taking place in Sri Lanka and question whether we are doing the right thing, and whether the Government should not be more precautious in some of its more ambitious undertakings.  Tourism is a great money earner.  Today it has become the number one preoccupation of the government as a source of income. But do we ask ourselves,  whether we are not over doing to  make money on tourism ? 

We cannot forget that tourism also has its  disadvantages   and a perilous dark-side.  Sri Lanka seems to be on its way to jump the boundaries, if the Government would not draw in reins.  There is  news of prostitution in a big way drawing in women from East Europe, while even some of our young film artists are being put on show cases of notoriety.   There are also news of Casinos for tourists and some even promoting tourist resorts for nudists.  Russia became very rich very quickly and is now in the grips of a moral decadence and fear of mafia.

What more is in stock in Sri Lanka by way of pleasing the foreign tourists specially those from the West ? Some time  back there was talk, of special plane loads of rich Germans taken to Philippines  for sex tours arranged for them , the baits being  young girls,  and pedophilia. It was recently reported by the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) that they had received more than 7,000 complaints of child abuse since it established a telephone hotline.

Are these children  only those sexually abused or molested by their parents, guardians or people known to them, and are they children in out-of-home care, mainly living in foster homes or with relatives ?
There were some time back rumours  that children, whose mothers have left to Middle East for domestic service leaving  the children in the care of grand mothers or the fathers were being « taken for prostitution » in hotels.   Not only the Children but women working as machinists in some workshops were made to prostitute by the workshop owners.  These reports must be taken seriously by the government and serious investigations made, before it goes out of control.

Any projects and enterprises should have limits, but in Sri Lanka their seems to be too much of a hurry to promote tourism as the main money earner, therefore there is a dangerous attempt  to provide tourists every thing they  may demand.


Lot of statistics are being given about the numbers of tourist arrivals, but little is said about the earnings.  Are we really earning enough to setoff our financial commitments to make tourists happy ? Is the income from tourism justifiably high compared to the expenditure on account of it?   

The tourists coming to Sri Lanka should be given a Sri Lankan vacation in keeping with our cultural values they can enjoy, that should be the criteria to attract tourists. 

But do we respect that principle  or are we turning our tourist industry to keep in line with Western tourist resorts ?  If we have to spend large sums of money to import foreign alcoholic drinks, and aliments in keeping with Western tastes, and import cutlery,  table wear and interior decorations to be tasteful in the Western sense, the income over expenditure may not be very much, and the vacation in Sri Lanka will fail to reach national standard of hospitality.

Even the country’s natural heritage it had been said is in danger, by constructing roads  and constructing hotels close to these protected areas.   We cannot sacrifice everything in the name of tourism.  In the West money is everything.  They even put people to risk without taking timely action to prevent accidents not wanting to spend more than what they think is necessary keeping an eye on the benefits. 

Even the death of passengers in a Concord that met with an accident after the burst of a wheel, it is said that the authorities knew of the defect months earlier  but hat failed to take  appropriate action to replace the wheels causing the accident.

Are we also putting money before people ?  Is money every thing ? Should not we put at least a temporary  halt to unnecessary expenditure to give us time to reflect whether such expenditure is necessary or not? 
It was recently reported that a large extent of land in Sabaragamuwa is to be handed over to a company for a golf course.  Is that really necessary ?  How many of the tourists come toSri Lanka to play golf ?   Isn’t our land more important than to construct golf courses ?  Even in the West many golf courses are used only by the rich and those who could afford and that is not much ?  A golf course as much as a Nudist Camp are not essential elements to develop tourism in Sri Lanka.

While the Government speaks of  poverty elimination, it appears  that attempts are being made to enrich some, at the cost of others.

It is not correct that our ancient Tanks  are converted to provide  joy rides motor boats without taking into consideration pollution to the environment.

In Fiji  they say the land belongs to the people and foreign investors are given leases of land to construct hotels or other business venture.  In Sri Lanka it is said that prime land even in Colombo are sold outright.  If that is how foreign investment is  encouraged, the Government should re-think about the advisability of such methods of dealing with what belongs to the people.

The least seriously taken other foreign exchange earner is the Sri Lanka middle and lower class  women sent  to Arab countries  as maids. Much has been written about their maltreatment by the Arab employers, and the suicide committed by  some  unable to bear the physical and mental torture they are subjected to by their Muslim Arab employers. There are   others who return with nails driven into their bodies.

The last  sad news about our “maids” abroad  is about a body of a dead Maid returned to Sri Lanka without her internal organs. For how long is the government prepared to tolerate these  savagery of the Muslim Arabs employing our women not as their servants ;  but as their slaves making them their personal chattel, with rights over their bodies and lives ?

Finally  it is about the still more dangerous situation that 62 500 hectares of land said to have been “given”  to the American Fruit Company Dole.  It was reported in the Sunday Times  of the 21 August, 2011,  that , “State lands, including the region around the Somawathie Chaitiya Sanctuary have been issued to an American fruit company for banana cultivation, in various parts of the country, according to environmentalists.
“ The company Dole, has acquired 62,500 hectares in the following areas - Buttala, Uva Kudaoya, Galle, Puttalam, Dambulla and Somawathie, without  obtaining the  required Environment Impact Assessment (EIA).
“The lands belong to several State bodies including the Mahaweli Authority, Forest and Wildlife Departments, and the Viharadevalagam (temple). “About 3,000 hectares in Uva Kudaoya, given to the company, is very valuable because of its rich biodiversity and water resources,” said Centre for Environmental Studies National Coordinator Ravindra Kariyawasam.
“About 500 hectares of land along the Menik Ganga reservation, 15,000 hectares in the Kantale region and 11,600 hectares in the Somawathie area have been given to the company, he added. He said the farmers in Uva Kudaoya were involved in chena and paddy cultivation before the company established the banana cultivation, but now the farmers are working for Dole. “ 

It is well  know that the American Fruit Companies have caused dangerous political instability in countries where they had grabbed land to open fruit plantations, turning them in to «  Banana Republics ».  Some of them like the United Fruit Company of American become a  law unto themselves using the land as they want without respect to natural resources ,  the danger to human and animal  lives by using dangerous fertilizers and the countries made poorer by  the people been exploited, and  depriving them of their own cultivation for their livelihood.
It was Jamaika  that was taken over to promote large scale Banana production by Captain Laurenzo D.Baker, followed by Henry Meigs to feed the railroad workers .  Meigs began the Tropical Trade and Transporting company which later became the United Fruit Company.

Honduras saw two Fruit Companies (the United Fruit Company and the Cuyamel Banana Company) vying for  land rights and employment of workers.  In 1911 one company hired mercenaries to effect a coup d’etat to dispose Miguel R.Davila the President of Honduras.  The Fruit Company deposed the President Davila and installed Manuel Bonilla as  a puppet President, which resulted in Honduras becoming a poor Banana Republic.

With regard to Guatamala it has been reported , that it  became a Banana Republic because of  the , “ inequitably distributed agricultural land and natural wealth  uneven economic development, and an economy dependent upon a few export crops, usually bananas, coffee, sugar cane. The inequitable land distribution is the principal cause of national poverty and the low quality of Guatemalan life, and the concomitant socio-political discontent and insurrection. Almost 90 per cent of the country's farms are too small to yield adequate subsistence harvests to the farmers, whilst two per cent of the country's farms occupy 65 per cent of the arable land, property of the local  oligarchy.” (wikipedia)

This is the new global land and water grab by American Fruit Companies.  America Dole Food Company is a multinational cooperation.  Dole had been named  as a defendant in a murder case in which it was accused of  causing death  through paramilitary violence in Colombia.

Again in Nicaragua a lawyer Juan Donguez sued Dole for use of pesitcies-Nemagon which sterilesed the workers.  The law suit was refused by the law courts in California on testimony that the plaintiffs did not work in the Dole’s plantations.  But, “A lawyer for the Nicaraguans, Steve Condie, however, stated that some of the witnesses who gave testimony that the claims were fraudulent, had been paid by Dole. The witnesses' identities were kept secret so that the plaintiffs' lawyers could not interview them”  Dole company bribed judges and witnesses and the lawyers representing the plaintiffs were accused of ethics violations.

« Swedish director Federic Gertten made a documentary film about Dominguez and the alleged banana workers. The movie Bananas-premiered in the 2009 LosAngeles Film Festival. Because Dole had serious concerns on what the film might reveal to the public, it urged festival officials to "immediately cease and desist" their sponsorship of the film.

The festival officials allowed the film to be screened, but it was not allowed to compete for placement in the competition. In addition, festival officials distributed information before the film's screening that indicated Dole believed the film to be factually inaccurate.

Although the film was screened with a disclaimer from the festival, Gertten was subsequently sued for defamation by Dole.The lawsuit was dropped on October 15 2009, and in November 2010 a court in Los Angeles found in favour of the movie crew making it possible to release the movie in the USA, and ordering Dole to pay SEK 1.4 million (roughly USD 200,000) to the filmmakers.
The last Nicaraguan DBCP awards against Dole were overturned in July 2010. »

Has the  Government investigated and taken precautions to avoid what happened in Guatamala, Colombia, Nicaragua and also in Philipines, happening in our poor Sri Lanka in giving land to open fruit farms to the Global land and water grabbers the  Dole Fruit Company of America  ? 

It is far better land is given to our own people for cultivation on a co-operative basis.

When the above article  appeared in the Lanka Web on the 16 November,2011.  There was a sarcastic comment by Cassandra on my anti Western sentiments.  The following are the two of the comments  I  made in  the Lankaweb as replies to Cassandra.

Cassandra Comments on my anti Western bias, and he thinks he is justified.

Who voted for or against Sri Lanka’s application   to host 2013 Commonwealth Games is not  known. But  following  excerpt from a report may give  an idea of how the voting may have proceeded.

« Hambantota 2018’s chances of making it the winning bid would be boosted by a guaranteed vote base from the Asian, African and the Caribbean regions. In contrast, Gold Coast would pin its hopes on voting that they lobby mainly from European, Americas and Oceania regions.
Out of six continents, Africa has the highest number of 18 member states in the CGF with the Caribbean having the second highest number of 15. The other member countries which will be eligible for voting would be 13 from Oceania and eight each from Asia, Americas and Europe.  »

There is no doubt that the Western  countries may have voted en-block against Sri Lanka followed by others for political and other reasons.   Sri Lanka certainly had a better case  to present itself as a candidate to host the  Commonwealth Games as it has within two years after elimination of a ruthless terrorism, which had eaten into its human, material and territorial resources for thirty long years, made a remarkable  ascension into a middle income group. 

The Western Countries which should have applauded its achievement as an example  for other developing countries who are far behind that remarkable achievement of Sri Lanka, thought it fit to accuse Sri Lanka for violation of human rights in the elimination of terrorism. Developing countries achieving economic development would be an asset to developed countries. 

We trusted and respected the Europeans and sought to emulate them often harping on their justice and fair play,  readiness to commend others for their efforts of development , and their democratic out look. 
But we saw their true “visage “only after Sri Lanka single handed won against terrorism through a military solution.   

The Government of Sri Lanka’s military operations were not directed at any time against  the Tamil people, though the self interested Tamils like those of the TNA,  Anandasangaree, Kumar David, Pakiasothy Saravanamuttu and Jehan Perera try to make out that the Sri Lanka’s war against terrorism was  a war against the Tamils.

The stand taken by both David Cameron and Stephen Harper in Australia at the CHOGM was deplorable. 

There aren’t many European citizens who write in defense of Sri Lanka though they make a terrorism free Sri Lanka their favourite  tourist destination, which was made possible by the Government and the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka.

I do not like Cassandra’s sarcasm in his criticism of what I write

I left out  answering  Cassendra’s pertinent  question, whether it made sense for Sri Lanka to have made a bid for the Games, in the first place ?

Perhaps  he does not  known that Hambantotata a few years back was a poor remote area of Sri Lanka.  All development projects by previous governments  were for the Western, Central and few other Districts and the South was left as it was poor and undeveloped. 

The selection of Hambantota to host  the Commonwealth games would have,

(i)                 helped the further development of the neglected South. 

(ii)               It would have also enriched the country  attracting larger numbers of foreign visitors, 

(iii)             earned foreign exchange by leasing the stadiums constructed for the Commonwealth Games for International Sports events.

(iv)             It would also have been an impetus of our own local sports men and women to work hard to participate in more ambitious fields of  sports competitions such as the Olympic Games

Australia had apparently hosted the Commonwealth Games on four previous occasions, why not therefore  select a fast developing country like Sri Lanka to give it  an opportunity to host the Commonwealth Games ?

Is fighting against Terrorism a violation of human rights ?

Terrorism is against  peace and human existence.   In  ancient history they speak of the  hordes of Genghis Khan spreading terror among the people, so were the Crusades,   the Catholic Inquisitions were inhuman massacres of humans and destruction of cultures , the Islamic conquest of India was a carnage, to mention a few.   They burnt cities , massacred people and destroyed places of worship and study.  These ancient marauders of human civilization valued more the treasures than human life. They were different in that some conquered  countries  , others  terrorized people for  treasure and valuables, yet others spread their religion destroying those of others.

To-day  it is for political power, and still in the name of a God,  more for  political  power or  world leadership with the least concern for human life

When you hear people like Hillary Clinton say to-day that all terrorism is not the same  and that there are different types of terrorism one really does not understand whether she is of this planet  or another . 

We are not at the beginning of the civilization. But the civilizations of the world had been destroyed in different ways  by other  civilizations, some barbaric and others semi barbaric. But what all of them did  was basically the same,  though the means were different.

To-day terrorism has  become the most  destructive form of  political  “agitation” within a country, or introduced from outside into a country.  One country’s terrorists may not be another country’s terrorists, but that would not make the terrorists of the other country good terrorists for those countries that are not affected by their terrorism.   

If that were to be the norm then no one will be able to eliminate terrorism.  In defying that principle by countries not affected by the terrorists elsewhere, as is being done  by Hillary Clinton  the US Secretary of State ,  UK, France, Canada and Germany the question of Human Rights  of which the West makes a big issue, becomes meaningless rhetoric.  

The terrorists of other countries  kill, maim, and massacre, men, women and children,  if the West were to tolerate those terrorists as they do not directly affect them, West becomes a party to the crimes  committed by  those terrorists .

All terrorists  depend on  the element of terror to achieve their object. The terrorists cannot be typified as terrorists of the North or South, East or West, the terrorists are terrorists.  Therefore there has to be a consensus  about who are terrorists and who are not terrorists.

The Oxford Dictionary defines terrorism as: “the unofficial or unauthorized use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims:”  Hence the West has to invent a new definition for terrorism if it  accept “ unauthorized use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims” in a country as “rebels”.  The West cannot accuse a government as violating human rights if it gets its Armed Forces to quell an “ armed rebellion” by the use of arms.

The  West with its “infamous” NATO Force avoids the confusion by treating those terrorists who do not directly threaten their countries as “ rebels “. Those  the West  calls “rebels” are in reality terrorists,  who have taken arms against the government in power. It helps the West to treat them as “rebels” as it would help them  for not only  to change governments, but also to  strengthen its leadership in the world having  these countries as satellite states with puppet governments with their allegiance to the West. 

It also helps the West to benefit by exploiting the riches of these country such as petrol as in the case of Libya,  and use the country’s strategic position to dominate over other  rival nations for the domination of the world, as in the case of Sri Lanka

United States  has unfortunately miserably deceived us with the sense of  justice and fair play  we expected after the election of the President Barrack Obama.  USA is the greatest deception in the world’s hope of elimination of terrorism.  The President Barrack Obama on the other hand contributed to defending terrorists in other countries while seeking to fight terrorists capable of  attacking USA and its Allies.  This is the result of Obama Administration depending on officials like Robert Blake the Junior State Secretary and Hillary Clinton who allows herself to be dragged by the nose by Robert Blake.

It is a shameless revelation that USA interferes into internal affairs of Sovereign states at the fall of a leaf.  It has been reported that the USA State Department is  seeking to punish governments which  censure websites  which carryon destructive destabilising  publicity against the Government .   

Here is the beginning by USA to bring in Western influence even in the internal Administrative affairs of a Sovereign State.  The UNO should intervene to stop the  Western countries undue interference into the affairs of Sovereign States, by  more effective authority.

USA has announced that it will withhold payment of  its contribution to the budget of the UNESCO for  it accepting Palestine as a Member State.

The decision taken by the UNESCO to accept Palestine as a member is not only a courageous decision in the Climate that prevails, but also a very wise means to bring “warring “ factions together into one forum. It is seen that USA in this instance as well takes  a wrong decision to impose its will.

In the meantime,  it has been reported that David Cameron the Prime Minister of UK  of all people urged Sri Lanka to make progress on human rights before hosting the next Common Wealth leaders meeting in 2013.

Neither the Prime Minister of UK  David Cameron nor the Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper have the right to impose rules on Sri Lanka as to what it should do or not do, as these two Prime Ministers have their hands smeared with blood of violation of human rights and  crimes against the people of Libya, Afghanistan and Iraq on their hands.

Their intervention into affairs of Sri Lanka is an interference with the reconciliation process that is in progress.  Hillary Clinton the US Secretary of State in calling to have discussions with a terrorist proxi-political Party TNA  is hindering the communal unification of Sri Lanka after a thirty years of suffering under terrorism. 

The TNA is a political party, that had been organized and financed by the LTTE Terrorists.  It is a party that is being tolerated, as a poor uninformed Tamil people of the North  have voted  for them for sentimental reasons and not because they are representative of those people.

Hillary Clinton the US State Secretary in inviting them for discussions are  giving this proxi-terrorist political party TNA an uncalled for respectability under their blind and foolish  policy of recognizing terrorists of other countries who are not a  direct threat to West as “rebels”.  This is again the work of Robert Blake whose sympathies with the terrorists of Sri Lanka are well known.

Violation of human rights has made  an excuse for the Western powers to interfere into other Sovereign States, leaving themselves outside it despite they being the worse violators of  human rights.

This anomalous situation has to be rectified,   to allow the Sovereign  States of the  third world countries to progress and come out of their status of underdevelopment.  The developing countries should be allowed to settle their political, economic and social problems without the interference of the Western Countries who seek to work according to their own agenda without concern for the developing Nations of the world.

To stop this aberration of the International Law, the Members states of the  UNO, who are from East Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa should form into a political block to stop the Western countries from interfering into their countries. 

So that any rebellious elements inside a Sovereign State will  settle their disputes in dialogue within the country,  or through appeal to the UNO and not to a Western country or countries in particular. 

There should also be a mechanism within UNO to stop military intervention of any Nature by a Western Country or Countries in any Sovereign State among the developing Nations.

To Salil Shetty the 8th Secretary General of Amnesty International .

 Salil Shetty, we come from a village.   We have a dog  at home and practically all the houses in the village have dogs.  Our village is surrounded by other villages. We have Tamil, Sinhala Muslim and even Burgher families living in our village and they all have a dog whether they like or not.  And all the houses in the surrounding villages also have dogs.

My stupid dog sleeps in the porch, and  as all dogs his intelligence is limited. In the morning when the dog is hardly awake when a dead branch of a tree or even a coconut leaf  falls with a thud  as they often do, our stupid dog begins to bark for nothing as if burglars have broken into the house.

That is not all when our stupid dog barks at least  frightened by a falling branch, all the other dogs in the village and those in the surrounding villages begin to bark for nothing , just because my dog barked.  And some times that goes on through out the day.  It stops for some time and goes off once again…..They really begin to bark for nothing and perhaps ashamed of their stupidity invents something else to bark again.

That  was how  all these accusations and counter accusations against Sri Lanka, for violation of human rights also  began.  It was really nothing at the beginning. Salil Shetty  there was a tsunami in Sri Lanka. That was way back in 2004 on the Boxing day,  You may perhaps have heard about it.  For after that  a whole army of NGO’s debarked in Sri Lanka as the Countries that had collected funds for the victims of tsunami refused to pay the funds directly to the Government.  Therefore the  funds were being distributed and tsunami affected areas were reconstructed with the money the NGOs brought with them.  This happened while Sri Lanka was being terrorized by  a group of terrorists the ruthlessness and  monstrosity of whom the world had  never seen.

The Tsunami for them - the terrorists- was a blessing as they got friendly with the NGOs, playing the poverty line and complaining to the NGOs the step-motherly  treatment they receive from the Government run by the Sinhala, because they are Tamils , ethnically different from the Sinhala. Making such complaints the terrorists  got many NGOs to work in the areas that had been allocated to them under a Cease Fire Agreement by a not very intelligent Prime Minister of a Previous government of Sri Lanka.

Thus , because of the CFA, neither  the Sinhala people who wanted to help the Tsunami affected Tamil people nor the Government of Sri Lanka was allowed into the areas by the terrorists.  Hence it was accessible only to the NGOs or foreign government representatives.  That was why  the NGOs who worked with the Tamil victims of tsunami in the areas that were held by the terrorists thought   these poor Tamil people were neglected and discriminated by the Government and the Sinhala people, because they are  of the minority Tamil Community..

The Tamil people in these Terrorists held  areas too  had no access to Sinhala areas or the Government had no access to these people.  They were under the terrorists, who  recruited their children to fight along with them, or trained as suicide bombs.  The NGOs  saw a  different side of the terrorists.  These terrorists were kind to them very respectful and the NGOs like Nesbitt were treated like angels come from heaven. 

The NGOs with the Money they brought for the  Tsunami victims lived a very high standard  life style living in good quarters, plying in Pajaro Vans, and taking calm holidays on the sea beach  with paid home leave. which they would not have liked to have exchanged for any thing else in the world.  They had nothing to complain they thought , over and above helping the Tsunami affected Tamil people in these  territories. Then they thought that while they are there   they may as well help these  young “rebels” as they thought they were,  to carve out that territory of land for themselves for their Tamil people separate from the racists Sinhala in the south..

Thereafter the NGOs of different professional qualifications, such as engineers, experts in production of bombs, construction of boats and submergeables  boats( small submarines), printing presses, telecommunication engineers and  underground bunker constructors came to help the terrorists, they took them to be rebels due to their extreme kindness and friendliness to them.

The absence of the Sinhala people or Sinhala Government Officials  proved to them they were neglected because they were of the ethnic minority.  These NGOs did not investigate to understand more about the minority Tamils, the 58 percent of them living with the Sinhala people in the South. 

This new affection of the NGOs  helped the terrorists, and they did every thing to make the NGO’s  trust them the more , and in return help them break away from the rest of the country. The NGOs put up factories in the areas to prepare, bombs, and ship yards to construct boats, and even constructed three airstrips and brought aircraft parts and set up air planes.

Eventually the terrorists became  a very strong military force .  In addition to the NGOs the expatriate Tamils now living in different parts of the world were forced by groups organized by the terrorist sympathizers in these countries to  collect funds for the benefits of the Tamil terrorists who were to create a homeland for them.  They used the collected funds to buy modern military equipment, arms and ammunitions.  The arms and other war material  they could not clear from the customs were  addressed to NGOs who had permission to take away  Craters (full of these arms , ammunitions, plane parts,  communication material etc.) unchecked.

The NGOs or even the representatives of the foreign countries including Robert O Blake did not take them for terrorists, and they were sure they  or their countries had nothing to fear from them.  The terrorists had even acquired  Ships to transport heavy armaments they had purchased in different foreign countries.

With all these support from the NGOs and foreign Governments the terrorists who had become a strong military force  terrorized the rest of the people and the country.  They killed innocent people by exploding claymore bombs, in busses, train, market places, at sport meets and Office rooms, they used suicide bombers to kill VIPs, they killed a President a Prime Minister of India, several Ministers and  attempted to murder and wounded a President and a Commander of the Army.

They killed innumerable number of Civilians, bombed the Air Port,  Banks , and Buildings and they were a  power to be reckoned with. .  No foreign government  came to the help of Sri Lanka to eliminate terrorism. Sri Lanka was left alone to sort out the problem. 

Government of India fearing the Tamil Nadu state who were supporting the terrorists in Sri Lanka did not help but created more problems to Sri Lanka, by even refusing to sell arms and ammunitions which the Government had to purchase from Pakistan and China.

The people of Sri  Lanka including the Tamils went through untold suffering for 30 years not sure of being alive tomorrow, not knowing whether to go out or not or not knowing whether those who have left homes will come back  or not.

Salil Shetty, it was when we were in that situation that there was a Presidential  Election  in 2005 in which Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse was elected the President of Sri Lanka.  He was determined to finish with terrorism for good.  He comes from a family well known for their patriotism, honesty and  the ability to fight through a situation without giving up half way.  Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse  the newly elected President of Sri Lanka came from that hard core of a stubbornly determined ancestry.

He began by peaceful negotiations with the terrorists, which failed, and when the terrorists closed a sluice gate of a tank depriving water to thousands of farmers, it was too much and the President ordered  to deploy the Army to open the sluice gates.  The terrorists  shot at the army, and that began the military operations against the terrorists.  When the military operations began the out come was uncertain.  The terrorist were better equipped than the Government Armed forces.  Many said that the terrorists were invincible. 

They murdered and assassinated number of  soldiers, security officers and Naval Officers.  But the determination of the President Mr.Mahinda Rajapakse, to end terrorism  did not slack. The military operations were taken in earnest coordinated by a former Colonel of the Army that had fought against the terrorists previously -Gotabhaya Rajapakse, and the Commander of the Army Mr. Sarath Fonseka had an axe to grind,  having been an assassination target of the terrorists.  He was also determined as much as the President to end terrorism.  So were the Commanders of the Air Force and the Navy.

The military operations were continued and it was becoming dangerous for non combatants such as the NGOs in the terrorist occupied areas .  Therefore the NGOs were asked to leave the areas immediately for the army to carry out their duties without putting the NGOs in  danger.

It was then that the NGO’s who had  settle down in the areas to help the Tamil people some affected by the tsunami began to complain against the Government and the Armed forces for discrimination against the Tamils calling the Military Operations were  against the ethnic Tamil.

One woman NGO in the area a Nesbitt if I remember correct went  to America  and made a critical publicity campaign against Sri Lanka with the help of some of the American Media accusing the Government of Sri Lanka for discrimination against  the minority Tamils and that the Government Armed Forces were violating their human rights. She Organised the Human Rights watch, a Media Federation and the call  to stop  violation of human rights  against the minority Tamils in Sri Lanka was mooted.

Salil Shetty, now you remember  our stupid dog sleeping in our porch, barking that morning when a branch of a tree had fallen down, and how the other dogs  in the village and  those in the villages around ours began to bark without exactly knowing why they were barking ? 

Well , it was the same that happened when this NGO Nesbitt  cried about violation of human rights. Every one who did not know exactly what was going on  in Sri Lanka too took up the Nesbitt’s cry of violation of Human rights.    The Amnesty International after all a Noble prize winning institution did not want to play second fiddle to Human Rights Watch and they too joined in. Thereafter the numbers of anti Sri Lanka voices in the West kept increasing.

The terrorists in Sri Lanka found it a good idea to encourage as many foreigners as possible to  create a mayhem about Sri Lanka.  They immediately instructed their Fundraisers in Foreign Countries to finance all these European and American Human rights activists who carry publicity against human rights violation by Sri Lanka against the minority Tamil Community.

Therefore, Salil Shetty, yours is not a lone voice, and you may be repeating what your predecessors, such as Irene Khan  of the US$1.37 million pay off fame had been whining about  Sri Lanka’s violation of  human rights .  Now you are the eight Secretary General and from India you have to do some thing more than what  Irene Khan or Forester, you cannot simply cut and paste old reports to make them look new.. 

Therefore put  as much poison into your writing about Sri Lanka.  It goes, every one in the West beginning from Hillary Clinton loves Sri Lanka bashing.   So many people live on that ask for instance  Attorney  Bruce Fenn,. He has made a mint of money from the Expatriate Pro terrorists Tamil Organisations  to write a brief accusing Sri Lanka Armed Forces for Genocide.  After all Amnesty International pays you well, perhaps better than the Human Rights watch despite its US$  100 million from Soros.

Your  article “Commonwealth values put to test by Sri Lanka » is not bad though it is a repetition of what others had written.  In fact there is nothing to invent all  vitriols are there.  As those other dogs  in our village and in surrounded villages barked  after hearing our dog  for nothing just because they wanted to bark,  now the Amnesty International, Human rights watch, Ban Ki Moon, Navi Pillai, et al  accuse Sri Lanka because some one else did it, and for no other reason. 

So go ahead Shetty despite being an Indian you may not know what really went on  in Sri Lanka for thirty tears. 

To make the accusations easy and to make that claim of war criminals to stick on the President of Sri Lanka and his Armed forces the period of investigation has been reduced to few hours before the elimination of terrrorist. 

Because if you had taken the whole of 30years of terrorism in Sri Lanka,  the Sri Lanka’s Military Operations after 2005 is just a drop in the bucket.  It is we,  the  Sri Lankans - Sinhala, Tamil, Muslims and every one else who suffered not the terrorists.  To-day we are all free and in peace because of the President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapakse and the Armed Forces.  That is the truth Salil Shetty.

Salil Shetty, your opinion “ Government accused of war crimes, crimes against humanity and numerous human rights violations is due to take control of this organisation. “  is dramatized, highly exaggerated and it demonstrates your inaptitude to evaluate a country for what it really is. Just do not take a pride in repeating what those before you had said. Those opinions were second hand. They did not know what exactly went on in Sri Lanka neither at the last phase of the military operations to eliminate terrorists, nor   during the whole of the 30 years of terrorism  before , in Sri Lanka. Even , Nesbit  who began all this crap about violation of human rights  does not know what exactly went on in Sri Lanka with the terrorists.

Perhaps you in your bias and the official position in an organisation  which has become  disdainful , for depending on third parties rather  than real direct investigation to accuse a country which is  far from  what you imagine it is with your distorted mentality.  It is regrettable that you being an Indian cannot be more inventive  in making convincing accusations about the President of Sri Lanka.

That suffering only a people who ever went through it  for 30 years will know,  and no one of these humanitarians of the west trying  to investigate the last phase of the military operations for the elimination of terrorism , will ever know.

At the beginning they let others do the killings. It  was Jocobo Arbenz the  President of Guatamala, then Mossadeq  the Prime Minister of Iran and then Salvador Allende of Chili all disposed by the CIA.

And a joyous American President Barrack Obama  announced to the Americans, « Today, at my direction, the United States carried out that operation ... they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body. The death of bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date against al-Qaeda. Tonight, we give thanks to the counterintelligence officials who have tirelessly worked, we give thanks to the men who carried out this operation…..

Tonight we are once again reminded that American can do whatever we set our mind to ... we can do these things not because of wealth and power but because of who we are. »

That was  on the 2 May, 2011. But on the 20 October, the Western Vampires satiated  their thirst of blood  when Colonel  Gaddafi was killed by the NATO Forces and even sodomized for their pleasure by a rebel hero trained and armed by the NATO forces with a pointed instrument to his «  posterior  ».

The  Western vampires were compensated .  But what these Vampires seem to think is  that their  new theory of violation of human rights in war situations, which they seem to have  invented to accuse Sri Lanka Government Forces which fought against real  terrorists in their own country for 30 long years, does not  apply to them however serious are their crimes against the humanity.

In Sri Lanka the terrorists were armed and strengthened by the West.  The Sri Lanka Armed Forces sacrificed their men in large numbers in eliminating the terrorists and rescuing 300,000 innocent Civilians the terrorists had kept as their human shield  to protect themselves from the Armed Forces shooting at them. 

But these  all powerful Western Vampires  invented the theory of violation of human rights to impose it on others but not on themselves.  Despite they being the worst perpetrators of human rights violations.

These Vampires are on their own  and their own violation of human rights, in the political assassinations and the assassinations and killing of civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan,  they try to cover up by accusing Sri Lanka, which carried out its democratic right of defending its people and territory from a ruthless group of terrorists, supported and armed  by the very West that now dare  accuse Sri Lanka.

In face of the Barbarism of the west a democratic Sovereign State-Sri Lanka is  helpless being accused by every Dick ,Tom and Harry of these Western and West Supporting White regimes.

Of the member countries of the Commonwealth , the Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper , UK Prime Minister David Cameron are involved up to their neck in violation of human rights by joining the NATO forces to bomb Libya and killing thousands of civilians and also stand accused of killing Colonel Gaddafi after taking him a  prisoner and not protecting him under the Geneva convention.

CHOGM should take note of this before trying to pass any punitive proposal of  suspension or boycott  against Seri Lanka at the behest of Stephen Harper, Kevin Rudd, David Cameron or any one else.

Participating in the Commonwealth Conference,   the Canadian  and UK Prime Ministers and Kevin Rudd Australian Foreign Minster who agreed on the bombardment of Libya under the cover of a UN Sanction,  are trying to make the world forget the part they have played  violating human rights of the civilian populations in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya.

They are now  taking  the mean advantage of the CHOGM to cover up their shameless anti-democratic violence inflicted on Libyan Sovereign State, by accusing Sri Lanka for human rights violation in the most difficult last phase of the elimination of human rights.

Who do Stephen Harper, Kevin Rudd, Malcolm Fraser, New South Wales Greens fear, for them to demand accountability from Sri Lanka for the elimination of a real group of ruthless terrorists whose terrorism  they did not suffer, cannot even  have an idea of what the people of Sri Lanka went through ? Is it the cohorts of the terrorist rump residing in Australia that they are frightened  ?

The Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd had said , «   What happens in Europe shapes whatever happens  every where and is of fundamental relevance. » 

If so Australia is as much responsible as the USA, UK, France , Canada, Netherlands and Germany for the most inhuman , undemocratic, vindictive, and brutal bombardment  of Libya  in complete abuse of the UN Sanction for protection of airspace over Libya, killing still unknown numbers of civilians and the murder of Colonel Gaddafi in contravention of the Geneva Convention.

Australia and Canada  already have their hands bloodied with the violation of human rights of the Canadian Indians, and Australian Aborigines.  Both the Canadian Government and Australia, including UK, France, and USA are the ones that should be charged for war crimes and asked for accountability.  Because they were fighting outside their respective countries against a Sovereign State ,  respecting a  call for assistance by  a group of Libyan terrorists to fight against its accepted leader.

That call for accountability by the Amnesty International and the Human Rights Watch( if they could be trusted to be sincere) is the sward of Damocles hanging over the heads of Stephen Harper of Canada, David Cameron of UK,  both attending the CHOGM, and Nicolas Sarkozy of France and Barack Obama of USA. 

It has been reported that:

“The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is being heavily criticized for civilian casualties and a series of bombings apparently targeting essential non-military infrastructure in Libya, with some observers calling the actions war crimes. The Libyan rebels being supported by coalition forces have also been accused of wanton savagery and even crimes against humanity.”( New American)

And again :

“The demand by Amnesty International on Wednesday followed government accusations days earlier that NATO killed civilians in the western part of the country to help clear the way for insurgents advancing on the government-controlled city of Zlitan.
NATO has come under fire in recent months by human rights groups and foreign countries for air strikes that have resulted in massive civilians deaths.

Ramadan Massacre - 33 children, 32 women and 20 men from 12 families were killed in the slaughter.” (the World News)

Despite these they seek to accuse  the Government of Sri Lanka which waged a justified war against  real terrorists terrorising its own country, rescuing 300,000 innocent Tamil civilians from the teeth of the terrorists.

The end of a war  always sees  tremendous calamities as no one knows who shoots , who kills and who gets killed.  It happened at the end of the Second  world war when atomic bombs were dropped in  Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and in Vietnam when the civilians were  subjected to Napalm attack by USA army.  Have the Amnesty International, or the Human Rights Watch raised any accusations ?

Kevin Rudd  and Stephen Harper ought to be having “peanuts “inside their skulls instead of Grey matter.  The Prime Minister of Australia Julia Gillard  seems to have real grey matter. She speaks intelligently.  She is  outspoken and diplomatically correct.  The CHOGM is there to discuss matters to reunite a disunited Commonwealth and give confidence for Member States to continue to be a part of it.  

If the CHOGM is to follow the ilk of Stephen Harper, Kevin Rudd and Malcolm Fraser and goes all out to accuse one Sovereign State-Sri Lanka for violation of human rights and call for accountability, leaving out Canada,  UK, and Australia very much more involved in violation of human rights in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya,  it is better that CHOGM is disbanded altogether  as it serves no purpose to any of its Member States.

The Government of Sri Lanka did a mistake in supporting the Candidature of Ban ki Moon as the SG of UNA for another term, as Ban Ki Moon  remains a puppet of the West and is unable to take a decision on his own.   Ban Ki Moon should take full responsibility for the  unpardonable atrocities committed by the  Western Countries including USA interposing the NATO Forces,  in Libya .

USA, and British Forces  bombarded Libya with  US Tomahawk Missiles. France, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany  continued air strikes, Canada deployed  Canadian Royal Navy  frigate HMCS Charlotte Town.  France Air dropped arms and Ammunitions to the « terrorist rebels » and Italy sent military instructors, and in March ,2011 NATO took over military operations. On the 20 October, 2011 they murdered Colonel Gaddafi.

All that was despite the UN  Security Council’s limited sanction to control the Air Space over Libya.  Ban Ki Moon was sitting pretty while all that was going on, calling Sri Lanka to allow a International Investigation in to the last phase of the elimination of terrorists.  Ban Ki Moon should have called a meeting of the UN Security Council to stop the Western countries with NATO forces continuing to bombard   Libya. 

One cannot really understand why  China,  Russia or India  did not intervene to demand Ban Ki Moon to call a meeting of the Security Council.

In view of Kevin Rudd’s insistence that other countries of the Common Wealth may call a boycott of CHOGM to be held in Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka may as well welcome the idea and  move away from the Commonwealth.  For that we should have the assurance of the support of China, Russia, Iran, Morocco, Vietnam and the rest of the developing countries in Asia, South East Asia and Africa.

We should as well inform Heads of States in our regions to take care as one never knows from where the Western Vampires will find their next victim.

A group of Senators from USA had recently complained that USA is  worried about Sri Lanka moving closer to China.  Well that is inevitable  as  USA is making a deliberate attempt to encourage separation of Communities in Sri Lanka  with Robert O’Blake and Hillary Clinton ganging together to meet the extreme racist group of TNA Parliamentarians with out first consulting the  democratically elected President of Sri Lanka who is making  a great effort to reconcile the Communities.

USA is making the effort of reconciliation that the President Mahinda Rajapakse  has begun difficult with their interference into the internal affairs of the country by  inviting the extreme racist and anti reconciliatory TNA Parliamentarians for discussion.

The USA Ambassador Butenis and Robert O’Blake the terrorist loving Junior Secretary of State should have got the US  Secretary of  State meet the President Mahinda Rajapakse to have first hand information with regard to what ever accusations they make about Sri Lanka instead of  depending on the pro Terrorist Tamil Expatriate Community and the Sri Lankan  Terrorists loving Rober O’Blake working with prejudice against the Government of Sri Lanka.

The President Mahinda Rajapakse is today the most loved and respected President of Sri Lanka, and the American State Department should take that into consideration and meet him personally or by sending a special representative of the USA President Barack  Obama, instead of acting as if he does not exist. 

The USA Ambassador Ms. Butenis should take note of this and inform the State Department the correct situation and what USA should do to bring Sri Lanka closer to the People of America.
