End of an epoch towards fear and uncertainty

A period smitten by an unfathomable human savagery by a group of Tamil terrorists ended with the emergence of a National Sinhala Buddhist leader without an equal in the past before 2005  nor at least for a few decades to come  in the future.

That great national leader of great significance to Sri Lanka is Mahinda Rajapakse. He will remain so what ever his enemies with unclean hands  and poisonous mouths are all out to implicate him for falsely invented crimes to make him unpopular amoung the people and perhaps take away his civic rights.

Since the beginning of the Independence moment in Sri Lanka there had been traitors amoung the Sinhala political leaders, each hatching conspiracies against  rival leaders to take their place. Baron Jayatilleke they say should have been the first Prime Minister of Sri Lanka but it is said that when Sri Lanka was being considered by the Colonial  rulers for  Independence,  they demanded the Sri Lankan National leaders  to recommend one amoung them to be sent to India as the High Commissioner.

Sir D.B.Jayatilleke was the senior amoung them who would have been made the Prime Minister by the Colonial rulers. However, a group led by D.S.Senanayake who knew what was likely to happen  had proposed to the Colonial government that D.B.Jayatilleke  should be sent as the High Commissioner as  it was a prestigious position and the most senior among them should be given the priviledge of representing Sri Lanka-then Ceylon jn India. D.B.Jayatilleke heart broken when he learnt of the treachery had  died in the plane which was taking him to Sri Lanka.

Therefore, it seems that back stabbing and throat cutting had been from the beginning  in the blood of  some of the Sri Lankan politicians. Therefore  the back stabbing of the great Sinhala National leader  of our time Mahinda Rajapakse  by Maitripala Sirisena the General Secretary of the SLFP is not surprising.

But what is surprising is despite the most traitorous act committed against his own leader, Sirisena has the temerity to  construe Buddhist teachings to “glorify” his misdeed.  He says that he gave up without holding onto things and therefore  got what he has as a result. (meaning he has given up being the General Secretary of the SLFP and got in return the office of the President of Sri Lanka)

“Giving up” in Buddhist terms is to be generous  without holding onto things  through attachment (tanha). But in reality Maitripala  was the worst individual with blind desire for power, who did not hesitate to stab his Leader in the back to take his place, falling into the trap laid by the worst enemies of the Nation. True to the tradition of treacherous politicians Maitripala Sirisena the President of Sri Lanka today  will for ever remain  a symbol of the politicians of that past.

The President Maitripala Sirisena can now rejoice in his triumph, but he cannot however much he tries escape from  the historic betrayal with which he is marked for life.  Soon he will find that the ill gained “Crown”  on his head will be too heavy for him to wear.

The Tamils of Sri Lanka  most ungrateful people as they are, despite their release within four years after the election of the President Mahinda Rajapakse in 2005 from their  suffering  and utter desperation under terrorism for thirty  years voted massively this year against their saviour  to elect the unknown Mr. Maitripala Sirisena.

Perhaps the Tamils who inflict suffering on themselves  in the worship of their gods, cherished that intense suffering they went through when the North and East was under the control of terrorists, and their massive vote against the President Mahinda Rajapakse was for the elimination of terrorism under which they enjoyed  that mystic offer of suffering. In which case we hope that the Tamil diaspora and the TNA may let loose now what they lost under President Mahinda Rajapakse, with the auspicious of the new regime.

The Muslims  well known for acting according to the  way their fez cap turns were no better, with their habit of extracting the  best from one; and then  turn to another when they have hope of getting  more from that other. The Muslims stand aside when others risk their lives, to gain from their efforts  without making any sacrifice themselves. The Muslims with the Tamils voted massively en block along with the Catholics to the opposition common candidate trusting to get what their leaders demanded in secret agreements, and see the defeat of Mahinda Rajapakse despite his contribution to modernise the North and East

This time the Sinhala Buddhists failed in their duty, allowing the minorities to appoint a presidential candidate favourable to them , rejecting a Sinhala Buddhist National leader who did  not budge an inch to give into separatist politics.

The new political epoch that began with the defeat of the President Mahinda Rajapakse  has shown the colour under which it would rein.  The victors begin first by vilification, accusations, and  demonising the leaders they vanquished . No proof is needed for vengeance.

In law a person is innocent until proved guilty, but today under the maitri yugaya  they accuse the President Mahinda Rajapakse and his government for  all types of  imagined acts of corruption and a planned   military take over.

The supporters of the  Government of  Mithripala-Ranil-Chandrika have pasted slogans to hail the dawn of  a Regime of  love after a Regime of hatred ( vairee palaneyen  Maitri palanayakata)  But the Regime of hatred as labelled  by the  supporters of the President Maitripla Sirisena ,  triumphed against the terrorists, demanding sternly the foreign governments  to keep away from interfering. President Mahinda Rajapakse brought to the people of Sri Lanka the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim peace and security above everything else.

This regime of hatred as the Mailtripala supporters call it, did not stop after eliminating the terrorist, but continued to develop the  country to make it a  middle income country, carried out  unprecedented infra structure development,  provided  facilities for education, transport , communication, health and agriculture within a short period of four years  after elimination of terrorism.

More significantly in contrast to the regime of love of Maitripala-Ranil and Chandrika which has turned out to be a regime of revenge , the regime of hatred of yesterday did not seek to take revenge from the opposition political parties.  The Government of the President Mahinda Rajapakse did not  investigate the  high handed activities of the UNP Government under JR who forced the MPs to vote to include the 13A into the Sri Lanka Constitution.

The Government of the president Mahinda Rajapakse  did not investigate  into Ranasinghe Premadasa’s  involvement in the organisation of torture camps where many a thousand of youth were murdered, and the  presentation of arms and ammunition to terrorists.  Nor did the  Regime of the President  Mahinda Rajapakse  seek to investigate into the involvement of  Ranil Wickramasinghe in Batalanda torture camps, or investigate the involvement of Anura Dissanayake, Handunetty  and the rest of the JVP in the murders and assassinations carried out by them.

Nor did the government of the President Mahinda Rajapakse seek to investigate sale of public enterprises to private companies or individuals and other fraudulant activities of Ravi Karunnayake.  The case against Ravi Karunanayake for terrorist money laundering is pending,

The government of the President Mahinda Rajapakse  was  not demanding investigations into  Karu Jayasuriy’s illegal contracts signed with Agrakko Ltd in 2000 when he was a Ministers of the Government of Ranil Wickramasinghe , nor did the government investigated into the Water’s edge land deal of Chandrika  Kumaratunga.

More serious  were Ranil Wickramasinghe’s  raid on the Millennium house, and his signing the CFA with the terrorist leader Prabhakaran.  On the latter issue of the signing of the CFA, Chandrika Kumaratunga is answerable to the people for not having stopped it using her  executive powers.

If Maitripala Sirisena’s yahapalanaya  or good governance has any meaning  he has to more seriously consider all past crimes and frauds committed by the previous governments and Presidents which are far more serious than the false accusations being levelled at the Government of the President Mahinda Rajapakse and his entourage.

The Chief Prosecutor of  the Government of Maitripala Sirisena is  Champika Ranawaka who assisted by  JVP  notorious for their  criminal activities.  Champika Ranawaka who said he knew  of the coal deal pointed out by Pavitra Wanniaratchi in the Parliament, did not say why he failed to include it  in his book  giving details of corruption in the  Electricity Board.

This new government of President Maitripala Sirisena hailed as a regime of good governance and love has turned out to be a machine churning out hatred seeking to take revenge from the President Mahinda Rajapakse.  However, it appears that the President Maitripala Sirisena has become a  sort of a “prisoner”  of those who came together to put up a Common opposition Presidential Candidate  against the President Mahinda Rajapakse.

President  Maithripala Sirisena is  neither able to use his executive powers  nor is he able to impose his Presidential authority on the members of his cabinet, who speak out to display their venomous hatred.  The 100 day Cabinet consists of persons burning  with anger and none of them seem to have done any work so far to carry forward development  work of the country, engaging  themselves more on issuing vituperations  on every aspect of  the governance under President Mahinda Rajapakse as if  he has done nothing progressive to Sri Lanka since his election in 2005.

Accusing President Mahinda Rajapakse against his family involvement in the Government Chandrika Kumaratunga seems to be promoting her son Vimutti to bring him into politics from the Gampaha electorate.

The UNP which accused the previous government for controlling the media is today not only controlling the media but also the police and the Army, and planning to take over the Judiciary by bringing back the once impeached CJ Shirani Bandaranayake.

It is unfortunate for the President Maitripala Sirisena that his Prime Minister and the majority of the members of his cabinet are  from the UNP as  what they promote is not a Maitri palanaya  but a vindictive bhishana palanaya putting their goons on the road protesting against taking into his cabinet former members of the government of the President Mahinda Rajapakse. Mangala Samaraweera  has nothing but hatred in his veins and accuses the President Mahinda Rajapakse for planning a military plot.

Never in the political history of Sri Lanka since 1948 a UNP government has brought progress  and  security to the country.  It  would be therefore  beneficial to the country and the people if sanity is made to prevail by the President Maitripala Sirisena by speaking out to put some order into the present behaviour of his Ministers.

If there had been frauds, misappropriations and even attempts for a military take over, those allegations  should be  properly investigated without crying out from house tops the suspicions of such activities without any proof; and before the appropriate authorities have investigated into them.

A Vote for President Mahinda Rajapakse is a vote for progress and a united unitary Sri Lanka.

I was seated outside the house surfing the internet for latest information enjoying the welcome  warmth of the sun after months of rain, when my neighbour  the teacher  walked in complaining of a headache .  She was looking sad and depressive I proposed  a panadol.

She refused and said it is all because she is  discouraged and  disappointed. Many of her  colleagues she says are stupid and do not understand what really is at stake in this Presidential election.   She says that they  form into groups and discuss  the coming elections.  She had asked what they propose to do, and they had said in one voice they were voting for Sirisena.

She was surprised and asked them why  what is the reason.  The had said because they did not get the Rs.3000,00 increase they were promised, therefore they do  not trust the President Rajapakse.  My neighbour was flabbergasted, and had said that  it is an egoist  and not so important a reason to  vote against the President who removed terrorism and developing the country.  They had said, “ terrorism is over, now it is time to look after our personal interests”.

I consoled her saying that  there are those who put self before the country.  They little realise that voting for the President  is to  vote for Sri Lanka,  to allow it to remain a unitary state  and  not to break it up to satisfy the Tamils  who wants the North and the Mulims who want the east.

Nevertheless, I said she should not worry as I just read in the internet  about a poll  carried out by the University of Jayawardhanapura according to which  the President  will receive 54.5 per cent of the votes and that with a margin of error between 3 and 5. That cheered her up a little but she asked to what extent can  one depend on polls ?

Just then I had a call from my niece a teacher at a Montessori  School in Colombo.  She related a  story similar to that of my neighbour the teacher with a slight difference. The teachers in the school she said want to vote for Sirisena, asked why they had said “ can’t you see how these Ministers live ? They live comfortably well, and have every thing while some  others have nothing, nothing even to eat “.

It is really disheartening.  I told her to say that under the President Rajapakse we had not heard of any one who had died of starvation. Despite all the talk about corruption, nepotism and lack of good governance the ordinary people  live better than they were before even if their living conditions may have not improved as they should be.

But it is pathetic that it is only these so called educated middle class  that cannot think beyond their  stomach  and a few more rupees in their pay packet, who are disgruntled as nothing can satisfy them. They do not know that they should be ever grateful to the President Mahinda Rajapakse who has given them peace and security with which they live happily without fear of bombs, massacres and assassinations.

There are on the contrary the very poor who offer merit to President Mahinda Rajapakse who they say has given them peace and security above all their personal deprivations.

While I was still with my neighbour –the teacher, a man came looking for some work .   Having told him that I have nothing to give him immediately promised him some work after the election. I casually asked him to whom he may cast his vote.  He told me that he had not decided; and just then the domestic help of my brother came with my lunch.  She heard the man say that he is still not decided, and said in her own way that  she will definitely not give her vote to that chap (aththatama  mama okata mage chande denne ne).

The man asked who ? “Sirisena” she said  and added, ” that ungrateful chap had even eaten hoppers with the President until late in the night and gone away to join the President’s enemies the following day, how can we trust such a man to be our President ? “

These are simple people but their sincere feelings come from down their heart. She told me later that her whole family and her neighbours will vote for the President. But she told me also that she did not like the speaker at  President Mahinda Rajapakse’s  meeting who said that Chandrika will have to go naked after the election.

These are excesses that speakers at the President  Mahinda Rajapskse’s meetings make carried over by their own rhetoric. I have noticed many speakers even Wimal Weerawansa attacking the common Presidential candidate of the opposition, Ranil, Chandrika and Champika Ranawaka.  Though they are  in fact “worthy” of such bitter criticism, one should know where to draw the line and tell the people of more important issues that theymay not know.

They speak less of the intervention of Western political forces against  President Mahinda Rajapakse and his government, and that these western forces are using the opposition to the President for a “regime change” in Sri Lanka.  In reality they (the West and EU lead by USA)  are the invisible hand behind Ranil and Chandrika to promote  Maitripala Sirisena as the  common Presidential Candidate to form a West friendly puppet regime in Sri Lanka.

If that had been well explained in simple language for the ordinary people to understand it would have changed many dillydallying persons to turn away from Maitripala Sirisena to vote for the President Mahinda Rajapakse.

I wanted to meet either the President or some one in-charge of the organisation of the meeting in support of the President Manhinda Rajapakse held in Kandy on the 1st January.  But I failed in my endeavour.  I finally contacted  a man close to Lohan Ratwatte the MP for Kandy, and got the opportunity to meet him at a lunch that had been arranged for him in Madawala.

I think he came very  hungry as he sat for lunch immediately on his arrival and made a sign for me to come and sit by his side.  I was not going to have lunch, so I told him while he was eating the importance of telling the large crowds of people coming for the meetings in support of the President, more about “foreign forces” at work against the President and his government, as very little is said about it though much is said about corruption, good governance etc.

He admitted that it is so and asked me to write down what has to be said and give it to him or send it to him.  It was a Sunday and I could not get a printout, therefore I promised to send  it to him through his friend I know and left.

But it was too late then and the Presidents last meeting  also went off  with the usual speeches  by the speakers.

Pakiasothy Sarawanamuttu says that the army in the north will deter the people from coming to vote  in he mean time  Amnesty International and EU have issued instruction to Sri Lanka requesting that the government should allow free elections.  The NGOs and the International gangs are watchful.

Latest I heard is that some people say that we should re-elect  the President Rajapakse, as  a new government coming will only increase corruption as those who had failed to earn money from commissions and bribes  will out do what the President Rajapakse’s government is accused of having done.

Let us wish good luck and  pray for the blessings of the Triple Gem for the re-election of  our President Mahinda Rajapakse, because Sri Lanka needs  him as the President for another term, more than ever before.

What they do not say enough in the meetings of the President Mahinda Rajapakse.

At the meetings of  the President Mahinda Rajapakse, the speakers make very moving speeches  attacking the Opposition for its most unfounded accusations against the President and his government.

The Opposition  accuses  the government  for the  absence of  good governance, corruption, and  nepotism.  But  they have forgotten that when  UNP, JR Jayawardhana, R.Premadasa, Ranil Wickramasinghe and Chandrika  Kumaratunga were in power there was  bad governance, worst form  bribery and corruption, political assassinations , nepotism  and a goon culture helping  their lackeys  and  the underworld  mafia they supported for their protection and do their dirty work.

But on the contrary the accusations levelled  against the President Mahinda Rajapakse and his Government are unfounded without substantial evidence, but repeated to mislead the people and finally make them think that there is no smoke without fire.  The President Mahinda Rajapakse and his government cannot be accused for political assassinations or murder.  The White Van  issue had no connection with the government, and there had been no proof of those rumours the opposition keeps on spreading.

However the speakers at the election meetings of the President Mahinda Rajapakse defend the President and the government stating very clearly why the President Mahinda Rajapakse should be re-elected and why the election of the candidate of the opposition would be to  welcome disaster undoing all progress since Mahinda Rajapakse came in as the President in 2005.

But  one important matter that should be  brought to the surface  and explained clearly to the people is the foreign interventions.  Though this matter is spoken of in the speeches made at the meetings in support of the President, it is not being given the importance it deserves and explained  in sufficient detail for the ordinary people to understand what is the danger Sri Lanka is facing with foreign intervention and why and what are the reasons for such intervention by foreign countries.

When the writer broached this subject with some people in towns and villages in Sri Lanka, very few  people were even ready to listen, they merely dropped the idea as just imagination.  Some even said that it is an absurdity that one  who comes from abroad relates to cover up the burning issues such as corruption, and the cost of living with which the people are burdened. Some others asked why should the rich countries of the West be interested in this small country like Sri Lanka, while some thought there is some sense in what is said, and was willing to listen to credible details.

In order to understand the reality of the issue  we have to go to the 16th Century  when Sri Lanka came to be Colonised first by the Portughese, then by the Dutch and finally by the British in 1815. India was also a  British Colony. India was composed of several Kingdoms, therefore when India was colonised by the English, the  British  King (or Queen) became the  Emperor of India.  The English Colonised many countries in Asia, Africa and so on.  The English ruled the Colonies and claimed ownership to every thing in the colonised country- every thing that was on the ground and minerals inside the ground.

Besides that the colonial rulers claimed ownership to the wealth of  gold, silver, bronze or copper archeological artefacts, ancient  jewellery and valuable precious stones.  Every thing of value was taken away and used as they pleased enhancing their wealth .  They did that with all colonies.  Thus India as well  lost many of its riches to the British Colonial rulers.

It was the same with all those Western Nations like Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, or Africaners who colonised countries. USA also adventured out into newly discovered countries  and Colonies to buy their riches, make archeological excavations or  allowed American companies to open  fruit, and  sugar cane plantations, and various other enterprises to give a pittance of their earnings to the country and enriching themselves vastly from the profits.

This is how the West became rich and declared themselves the world leaders ensuring White Supremacy. The Colonial rulers were getting rich from what they “plundered” from the colonies and allowing the natives to live their old lives with  little improvements from financial stipends paid to them by the white rulers as wages for working for their plantations, for building roads and maintaining them, while others some of whom were converted to Christianity were given better employment.

In 1917 there was the  Russian  revolution  where they set up a  government of the people-the working class.  This encouraged some of the educated people in the Colonies to think in terms of seeking independence  from colonial rule  In Sri Lanka Baron Jayatilleke, D.S.Senanayake, T.B.Jayah, Sir Ponnambalam Ramanathan  were in the fore front of the Independence moment.  To cut a long story short it was with the Independence of the Colonies that the Western colonialists began to feel that their wealth is doomed and that their leadership is at Stake. With India gaining Independence the British lost its Empire.

The West cannot re-colonise the developing countries now Independent with gun and sward as they did before.  The Independent countries not only have left their dependence on former colonial rulers but they also have built relations with other rich nations like Chine and Russia, which haven’t  the same political system of the West. Therefore the West turned to other means  of colonisation by inventing  “Regime Change”

The Western Countries want to re-conquer their lost power over the former colonies.  Because the present economic crisis the West is facing is due to the loss of their colonies which provided  them with the wealth and political leadership of the world. This is what the people of  Sri Lanka should be aware of  in the midst of  the present Presidential Election.

Sri Lanka is a unique case where it has left its dependence on the West and turned to China and Russia which not only provide it with the necessary  unconditional loans for its development projects, but also provides Sri Lanka with political security in the UN Security Council against the West that accuses Sri Lanka for violation of human rights in the elimination of  terrorism in a just war,  and threatens to take Sri Lanka before an International Tribunal accused for war crimes.

Sri Lanka has, beyond the imagination of the West, gone far ahead with development projects and  financial management which if emulated by the rest of the developing countries, the West will face un-surmountable economic problems.  The West also introduced  globalization –a “cultural imperialism” in order to maintain its  world leader ship by spreading  the Western Culture world wide.

Sri Lanka had withstood the West’s continuous attempt to  stop its dependence on China for its development . Therefore a regime change in Sri Lanka at this time would help the West in using the strategic position of  Sri Lanka  to stop the spreading of the Influence of China and Russia to other countries in the region, this would fulfil  their ambition to continue with the white supremacy of the world.

Therefore the Presidential election in Sri Lanka today is not a  battle  between the President Mahinda Rajapakse and  Maitripala  Sirisena, but a battle against President Mahinda Rajapakse, by  the West which is  determined for a  Regime Change in Sri Lanka.

The West is using two of its accredited Agents to play a major role to oust the President Mahinda Rajapakse and bring in a puppet as the President  to further its end without resorting to use the NATO Forces as it did in Libiya.

The accredited Agents of the West playing the principle role in the West’s attempt to change regime in Sri Lanka are:

Ranil Wickramasinghe the leader of the UNP who is a member of  the Mont Pelerin Society.  It is “ a Society filled with certified state-interventionists,” (Ludwig von Mises) It has been credited as being one of the key groups  that succeeded in moving the world away from Socialism. (Wikipedia)

The other:

Chandrika Kumaratunga the former President of Sri Lanka  is known to be working with  extreme right wing Western International organisations.  She is described as “ a paid servant of the US Government that doles out  “ National Endowment for Democracy” (NED) funds to some of the extreme US right wing foundations” Interestingly NED does work that was formerly done covertly by the CIA. (Sarojini Dutt- “The first Evil Twin-CBK”- Saturday Daily News 27.12.14)

There were some  amoung those who listened, who in fact understood what really is at stake in the Presidential election in Sri Lanka, and why it is necessary that they should definitely vote for the President Mahinda Rajapakse.

But still there are those who want a change from this unholy combination of already tried and failed lacklustre politicians- American Agents-Ranil Wickramasinghe, and  Chandrika Kumaratunga, man with venom in his veins-Sarath Fonseka,  two political gamblers Champika Ranawaka, and Atureliye Ratana,  an old man with a twisted mind  Sampanthan  appointed by the terrorist leader Prabhakaran to be the voice of the terrorists in the Parliament, and an unprincipled Muslim and a hypocrite, who had even allowed a woman to commit suicide by burning herself in his- compound  for un-kept promises Rauf Hakim.

But still despite all odds it will be the President Mahinda Rajapakse who will be re-elected te President of Sri Lanka for another term.

Why we should not vote for MAITRIPALA SIRISENA the Opposition Presidential Candidate ?

This is the Christmas Season. One cannot therefore while celebrating the birth of Jesus who was born  to liberate the people of their sins and bring happiness to the world, forget at the same time Judas Iscariot. Judas Iscariot was one of the twelve disciples of  Jesus. He was a trusted friend and the treasurer.  He betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver.  But Judas did not want to take the place of Jesus. Judas regretted his act so much that he returned the thirty coins to the High Priest Cataphas and hanged himself.

But Maitripala Sirisena a Judas of to-day hopes unlike Judas Iscariot of yesterday to walk into the shoes of his leader President Mahinda Rajapakse he betrayed.

Maitripala Sirisena allowed himself to be manipulated by the Agents of the West masquerading as patriotic politicians of Sri Lanka to betray his leader and be their puppet. Maitripala Sirisena  having left the SLFP did not join the UNP but remains aloof without a political foot hold amoung  strangers who do not see eye to eye, he will be cast aside once the election is over, whether he wins it or looses it.

Maitripala  Sirisena  joins a rudderless group of opposition politicians who have different political views. Ranil Wickramasinghe a man with a personal ambition to be the President of Sri Lanka, Chandrika Kumaratunga a woman burning with hatred,  with vengeance in her heart.  Sarath Fonseka who has a score  to settle with the President Rajapakse.  Rauf Hakeem a  man without any principle moving from one political party to another hoping to set up a Muslim State.  TNA the terrorist rump waiting for  a chance to breakaway to form a separate Tamil Eelam.  JHU  a party which has today lost its credibility  joins  hands as partners with political parties which it condemned for divisive ideologies.

Maitripala Sirisena is  far from being the leader of this motley crowd of  “ugly politicians”

Hence the voters should seriously consider who they should  vote  to be the next President of Sri Lanka.  They have to select  between the two Presidential  candidates, Maitripala Sirisena  who  is already lost in the crowd he has fallen amoung, with none to trust  in the  hastily collected motley crowd each with his or her  own personal political ambition, or President Mahinda Rajapakse leader of the SLFP, the leader of the UPFA, who had  been  twice the President of Sri Lanka, who eliminated terrorism and brought peace and security to his country and his people, and who has pledged to develop the country further,  remove corruption, and build a disciplined society.

If the voter would select Maitripala Sirisena there is bound to be political chaos.  Because the  mastermind behind  the motley crowd that form the Opposition with Maitripala Sirisena as their common Candidate is in the pay of  those who are actively engaged in regime change in developing countries.  The two of the opposition leaders behind  Maitripala Sirisena  namely Rani Wickramasinghe and  Chandrika Kumaratunga are agents of  USA and the West.

Ranil Wickramasinghe the leader of the UNP is a member of  the Mont Pelerin Society.  It is “ a Society filled with certified state-interventionists,” (Ludwig von Mises) It has been credited as being one of the key groups  that succeeded in moving the world away from Socialism. (Wikipedia)

The other Chandrika Kumaratunga the former President of Sri Lanka  is known to be working with  extreme right wing Western International organisations.

These two are  Maitripala Sirisena’s two principle “handlers” on whose advice he works.  Maitripala little knows that he is only a puppet moved by these two nefarious characters  according to the tunes of  their paymasters USA and the West.

Maitripala Sirisena has also Sampanthan and the whole of TNA’s anti Sinhala Tamil Forces and the Tamil Diaspora working for him.

Maitripala Sirisena also has the blessings and whole hearted support of  Rauf Hakeem and SLMC and other breakaway Muslims.

The voters should open their eyes wide  to see why they should not caste their precious  votes to invite disaster when every thing in Sri Lanka is now peaceful and development plans are in progress to make Sri Lanka  developed in every way possible to be in par with any of he foreign  Countries. It may be slow but the success is assured.

Do we want to  destroy  all what has been done and face again an unknown future with Maitripala Sirirsena  who seems to be completely unaware of the disaster he has brought with his ambition to be the President of Sri Lanka, consenting to two most unpatriotic  Sinhala political leaders of Sri Lanka –Ranil Wickramasinghe and Chandrika Kumaratunga.

Champika Ranawaka and  Athureliye Ratana are mere drift wood, and they do not count in this miserable plan backed by USA and the West to change regime to bring in a pro western Puppet regime .

It is still time for Champika Ranawaka to jump the boat  and leave the yellow robed Atureliye Ratana to sink with the rest.   Because what ever the plans being hatched by Ranil, Chandrika, Sampanthan, Hakeem and Ratana at the end of it all it depends on the voters.

The Sinhala Buddhist votes if not the rest will be for the President Mahinda Rajapakse the  true patriot and the man with the right vision for Sri Lanka who certainly  stands to win.

Rajiva Wijesinghe  a Foreign Minster hopeful under Maitripala Sirisena says that SLFP will rally round Maitripala Sirisena once he wins.  But he cannot expect  the large number of SLFP voters to  think like him- a pretentious  MP taken from the list  for the past services he rendered. He shamelessly sat along side a LTTE terrorist of the Global Tamil Forum in an Aljazeera Interview and pleaded  with the terrorist not to threaten to take Mahinda Rajapakse to Hague lest the idea itself  would give more votes  to the President Mahinda Rajapakse.

The Presidential election  in Sri Lanka  we are witnessing today is not  between one candidate and another.  It is a regime change plan of the  USA and the West in full swing with a puppet placed against the President Mahinda Rajapakse .  Right along the terrorist war in Sri Lanka USA had been covertly assisting the terrorists  fighting its proxy war.

In the final days of terrorism President Barrack Obama had intervened.  John Kerry in his Report of 2009 had said, “Just days before the war ended , President Obama delivered a statement from the Rose Gardens urging Sri Lanka to seek a peace that is secure and lasting”.  Kerry admits that the defeat of terrorism in Sri Lanka  was a major foreign policy set back for the US in recent times, it affected not only Sri Lanka but the entire South Asian Region”.

“To dent  Rajapaksa’s popularity observers say that the US and their allies are pumping in millions of Dollars like into Ortega’s Nikaragua or Chavez’s Venezuela in a campaign of  buy overs and disinformation ; in those countries the subversive funds were pumped in through excessive news paper and television advertising, through evangelical  organisations, trusts, NGOs and the like ”. (Sarojini Dutt- The first Evil Twin-CBK Saturday Daily News 27.12.14)

Therefore, the Sri Lanka voters, be they Sinhala, Tamil or Muslim should take an individual decision without being blindly led by their anti Rajapaksa politician who are acting in their own personal interest.  They should if true to their own hearts vote for the President  Mahinda Rajapakse who has brought the greatest changes since 2005 to make the people happy, for them to live in security, in a beautified country with hopes for generation to come to live in happiness and prosperity.

What more changes can Maitripala Sirisena bring to already peaceful Sri Lanka other than a turn back to an unknown future with perhaps another proxy war organised by USA and its allies.

These are some of the reasons amoung others for the Sri Lankans NOT TO VOTE for MAITRIPALA SIRISENA.

To reiterate:

i)                    a vote for Maitripala Sirisena is a vote  to help USA and the West in their attempt for a regime  change in Sri Lanka,
ii)                  a vote for Maitripala Sirisena is a vote for the Tamil National Alliance to set up a separate Tamil Eelam State in a merged North and East of Sri Lanka,
iii)                a vote for Maitripala Sirisena is a vote for Rauf Hakeem and the Muslim Congress to set up a separate District for Muslims in the East of Sri Lanka,
iv)                a vote for Maitripala Sirisena is a vote to  terminate extensive road constructions
by the Chinese and handing over the work to American Companies,
v)                  a vote for Maitripala Sirisena is a vote to stop beautification of the towns of Sri Lanka,
vi)                a vote for Maitripala Sirisena is a vote to privatise Hambantota Harbour, Mattala Air Port, and Norochchali Electricity Plant,
vii)              a vote for Maitripala Sirisena is a vote to neglect extension of  science and technology to village Schools,
viii)            a vote for Maitripala Sirisena is a vote to have none in the UN Security Council to defend Sri Lanka against Western aggression with the NATO forces
ix)                a vote for Maitripala Sirisena is a vote for the pro LTTE Tamil Diaspora to intervene in Sri Lanka to re vitalise the former Terrorist Cadre,
x)                  a vote for Maitripala Sirisena is a vote to bring back the military forces from the North and the East,
xi)                to vote for Maitripala Sirisena is to make the Sinhala Buddhists prisoners in the south of Sri Lanka,

xii)              a vote for Sirisena is to deprive the fishermen of the south a large extent of fish rich seas around the north and east of Sri Lanka.

Good Governance

There was colonialism under which many countries, poor from Western standard, were conquered subjugated and brought under the control of the  respective Western Countries that colonised them. The Colonisation was  an immense enterprise that brought into the  countries of the Colonial rulers an immense wealth from which they have created a strong economic foundation which has  while assuring their prosperity, given them power over the subjugated nations, and allowed them to  claim wholly or in partnership with other Western countries the leadership of the World-the leadership of the Whites.

Then with the Russian revolution the patriotic nationals of the  Colonised countries  demanded a breakaway from the  colonial rule to be liberated as Independent Nations.  It was not to the liking of the Colonial rulers.  Some nations like Sri Lanka were given Independence on Constitutions written by accredited Englishmen such as - Donomore and  Soulbury,  keeping them as  members of the Commonwealth of Nations

Some Nationalist Leaders such as,  Lumumba of Congo, Jacobe of Nicaragua, Aillande of Chilli , Mossadeq of Iran were  physically disposed of with the employment  of the  notorious CIA ( the presence of which cannot be ruled out in Sri Lanka for a possible political or a physical  disposal of Mahinda Rajapakse)

With the independence of the colonies the Colonial rulers  faced an insoluble  social and economic crisis which they have still not been able to surmount, Therefore, they are  finding every possible means to stop the emancipation of the now independent former colonies from their former colonial  ties,  which are alien to their culture based on their religion, creed and  customs, to traverse a different path for development.

One such alien tie is democracy inculcated into us specially through the English educated class- still attached to the alien dress and language, who are still the guardians of that alien culture.

Democracy or at least the concept of it existed in Sri Lanka before the advent of the colonial adventurers.  One example of it is the Order of the Buddhist Sangha. It was established by the great Saint the  compassionate Buddha. It is organised in to a community participating as a whole functioning  according to an accepted system where each one takes the responsibility for the application of the rules of administration of the Order ,  following an established and accepted  rules of discipline.

But “ Democracy”  as introduced by the Colonial Rulers-the British  is perhaps  good for their system which they had established with the priviledges they had gained becoming rich with the plundered treasures of  great value  from the colonies, in addition to misappropriated  mineral  and agricultural resources of these colonies. Their “Democracy”  is a political and  an administrative  facility  with the resources they have acquired and  stockpiled for their future.

The Political Parties in these countries have very little difference be they Republican or Democratic, Conservative or Labour. It may be a question of how they manage the finances in effective  measures for a successful administration with high or low income tax and maintaining a workable  gap between employment and unemployment etc.

There are no large scale development projects as the Western countries are already industrially and agriculturally developed, the infrastructures are in place with highly developed education facilities and health services,  Hence whether a  Democratic or Labour Government is replaced by  a Republican or Conservative Government or vice versa makes no great difference and their “ type of democracy” is workable in that manner, with a change of government every four or five years and limiting the term of office of a President for two terms.

But “ Democracy ” cannot work similarly in developing countries like Sri Lanka. Because the underdeveloped  countries  or developing countries unlike their  colonial counterparts who dictate terms and give lessons on democracy,  are deficient in all aspects of development such as the capital and skilled manpower.

Therefore a four year change of government and a two term President cannot do much to bring a developing country in par with a developed country or  at least  bring development half way towards it.

In a developing country like Sri Lanka for example,  with a change of a  government or the change of a President the whole system of  governance changes. As Sri Lanka is  basically poor, it cannot in reality have  a Conservative Capitalist Government, as the rich are a minority.

Nevertheless, there could be a government of a pseudo Conservative Capitalist party as it is in Sri Lanka, depending on Conservative or Labour, or Republican or Democratic  former foreign  Colonial countries for development, respecting their democracy, their judicial system and  accepting  their recommendations of  how to develop the country and with whom Sri Lanka should have diplomatic relations.

In fact it is what is being  proposed  to day by a pro Western  pseudo capitalist opposition in Sri Lanka presenting a common Presidential candidate, against President Mahinda Rajapakse presenting himself for a third term with the genuine intention  to complete the tremendous development  of Sri Lanka he undertook since 2005 when Sri Lank was reeling on its heels under the threat of being territorially separated by a ruthless group of terrorists.

Does the absence of “good Governance “ means this departure from Western dictates, taking a  people  consisting of all communities-Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim, from poverty to prosperity based  on a democracy suitably adopted to benefit the people ?

Does the absence of “ good governance” means  not depending solely on the former Western Colonialists, but also on  unconditional support and aid of the developed and developing Nations of Asia, the Middle East and Russia, without completely breaking  away from the West  ?

The former colonies now Independent came under the influence of left wing politics and their allegiance to the former Colonial rulers and the Commonwealth was affected and found Sri Lanka for instance turning towards other Nations  such as  China, Japan, and Russia and countries outside the Commonwealth and the West for its security and development.  Setting up the UNO did not faciligtate matters  for the developing countries.  The West set up the World Bank and IMF.

These Banks were  to help the developing nations get loans from them for development without turning to countries out side the West for aid and assistance.

But  the loans from these Banks came with conditions  which deprived the developing countries  to help the poor with  welfare assistance.  These conditions  which were not people friendly irked  the governments and aroused the ire of the people of the  developing Countries, making them turn away from the capitalist West to Socialism.  The West therefore formed a block against Russia and  Socialism.  They failed to counter the influence of  Socialist Russia  amoung the developing countries with aid and generous loans accessible to the developing countries.

The West gradually lost its hold on the developing countries, but  were able to  hold  on to them through its  influence on the local political groups favourable to the West and Capitalism.  Sri Lanka  has its own  Conservative Capitalist political party the UNP as against the leftwing Political parties such s the SLFP, LSSP,CP.   The West used the Conservative Parties like the UNP in Sri Lanka to keep its influence alive despite the fact that the left wing politics were gaining ground in Sri Lanka along with its alignment with Russia and China.

This was unexpected and the West hastened to find other means to keep the newly Independent colonies under their control by interfering into their internal affairs using the UNO.  The election of the Director General of  the UNO became politicised and America and West used its aid to developing countries such as those in Africa and the Middle East to win r votes for the candidate favoured by the West.

The West introduced questionable methods for intervention in Sovereign States of the developing countries through RTP- right-to-protect and introduced  human rights to accuse developing nations  for violation of human rights. But the Western Nations reserved the right to violate human rights with impunity.

The West has assumed an overseeing  role of developing nations-specially with regard to Sri Lanka, pampering the minorities protecting them from the majority and accusing the majority for violation of human rights of the minorities etc.

America takes an active role  in the  Human Rights Council of the UN in Geneva with a pro- American High Commissioners for Human Rights.  America is using the  UN Human Rights Council  passing resolutions against Sri Lanka  to stop by all means its present development process with Chinese assistance.

America is  determined for a regime change in Sri Lanka.  USA and West have Commandeered pro-western Opposition  with Chandrika taking the leading role, Ranil Wickramasinghe groomed as their puppet to take over reins of the Government of Sri Lanka replacing Mahinda Rajapakse.  Maithripala Sirisena is just nobody for America and the West  but he is just the catalyst for the regime change.

America has an annual country report on developing countries presented to its Congress with which it accuses developing countries for political mismanagement and internal problems  which in reality are “ none of their business ” . Nonetheless, they use their own methods to evaluate good governanceUSA and the West do not understand their lack of the knowledge  of the thinking pattern of the people of Sri Lanka, their culture, and customs to determine whether  Sri Lanka  is being  governed correctly or not. Their measuring rods of good governance is inappropriate to make a correct appraisal.

But unfortunately the pseudo capitalist political parties like the UNP allied to the West supported by pro-West Chandrika are  ready to bend backwards to please  the whims and fancies of the West.  They have therefore  taken the slogan of a lack of good governance as measured by America and the West to put people against the  President Mahinda Rajapakse at the present Presidential elections.

The Common Candidate of the Opposition has stated that the President Mahinda Rajapakse does not understand the meaning of the word good governance as if he- Maitripala Sirisena understands it better.  The word is a meaningless connotation as far as it concerns  Sri Lanka.  It comes from the West suggested by an NGO , now used  by the Opposition as a clarion call to the Voters to refrain from voting for a President , who according to them is  immersed in corruption lacking any knowledge of good governance.

These are mere ideas pumped into the heads of the Sri Lanka Opposition by the Western NGOs and used as words from the gospel used as a means to down grade  the greatest National leader of our time the President Mahinda Rajapakse.

The opposition to the President Mahinda Rajapakse is under a delusion  that they can make Good Governance  together with corruption a  political slogan to defeat the President Mahinda Rajapakse at the presidential election.

They (the opposition to the Preident) hope with that to come back into politics and change all that the President Mahinda Rajapakse has done, thus ushering in an era of utter political chaos as the amalgam of politicians that have got together to support the opposition Presidential candidate have nothing  in common  except a ferocious  desire to defeat the President Mahinda Rajapakse at any cost.

Good governance is an empty slogan  for the ordinary people of the country, for whom the man Mahinda Rajapakse is the only leader that can take the country forward and give them peace and happiness that they have already experienced in the elimination of the most feared and hated terrorism that controlled their lives  for thirty years and took away under most atrocious circumstances  their kith or kin, or persons- men, women or children,  known   or distantly connected.  What is good governance compared to those losses and the times spent in fear of an unknown death by being blown off by a claymore  or a suicide bomb ?

Of all the governments  Sri Lanka had since  1948, the government of the President Mahinda Rajapakse is the last that could  be accused for absence of good governance- whatever that means. In evaluating Mahinda Rajapakse’s exceptional qualities as the President and a National Leader,  one has to take into account his first swearing in as the President in 2005.  Some of those who jump to Criticise President Mahinda Rajapakse tend to forget that beginning when Sri Lanka was at the end of the tether so to say without a solution to a terrorism that had been going on for  thirty years.

Four Presidents had going through it,  one assassinated by the terrorist, one the most unworthy of all Presidents loosing her eye in a terrorist attack.  No one saw a solution to the problem other than handing over part of Sri Lanka to the terrorists, which the West encouraged Sri Lanka to do. JR Signed a peace accord merging the North and East and introducing an Indian Amenment 1 in to the Constitution. Premadasa  made a gift of arms, ammunition and money and got assassinated by way of a thankful gratitude. Ranil Wickramasinghe  signed an agreement with the terrorist leader handing overto him “ land under terrorist control”.  Chandrika offered North and East of Sri Lanka to the terrorist leader for ten years, to do what he wants with it. Her successor Mahinda Rajapakse was made of other mettle and would not give in so easily to terrorism, which caused him the ire of the West.

The West repeatedly demanded Sri Lanka to find a political solution as terrorism had out grown a military defeat and stood tall as  Goliath and no David was within sight.  When all hope had dwindled in to grey ash, Goliath  found at last his match in a David  from  Beliatta a village in the deep south of Sri Lanka

Mahinda Rajapakse from Beliatta who took over the reins as the President of Sri Lanka  was determined, full of confidence and sure of success. He was as good as a chequer player. He knew where to place his knights and pawns on the chequer board to check mate his opponent the feared terrorist.  He was fearless like David with his catapult in his hand facing Goliath.  Mahinda Rajapakse  who placed his entire confidence on his selected man –his own brother Gotabhaya for a military  assault against the terrorists, was prepared to give him a relentless political support.

It was a perfectly well planned effort that  resulted in the complete elimination of terrorism.  Now after the flames have died  in to ash, and the grass has gown over the battle ground, there are  the phantoms of the past Colonial rulers rising from their graves to accuse the mighty forces of  Sri Lanka led by Mahinda Rajapakse for violation of human rights and war crimes, for the sin of having eliminated terrorism which the west believed invincible. Whatever the enemies and the adversaries  say the President Mahind Rajapakse  after the elimination of terrorism did not rest on his laurels because his challenging tasks were still incomplete.

The greatest road construction project ever undertaken by a government of Sri Lanka since 1948 is again  by the government of the President Mahinda Rajapkse. He completely revolutionised the road construction by introducing modern highways from Colombo to Matara, and from Katunayake to Colombo.  This was accompanied with the construction of  overhead bridges, Concrete  and carpeted roads. The pinnacle of this road construct project was the Colombo Jaffna railway constructed with aid from India .  President Mahinda Rajapase had  begun a non-stop development process.

At the end of the completion of every one of these great undertakings  he approached the next task before him with the same determination and  confidence as it was with the elimination of terrorism, there were no shortage of critics  despite the fact that no other President  besides the President Rajapakse had dared launch on a series of development project with so much of ardour and hope of success. He was indeed a great patriot who dedicated every ounce of his energy in the development of his beloved country giving his people a country which they could be proud of.

The opponent of the President Mahinda Rajapakse show as example of  corruption the construction of roads.  This they do   without understanding the  tremendous engineering feat involved in the construction of high ways. They divide the total expenditure in kilo meters  of construction, and  questioning why there is a great disparity in the cost of construction of one highway compared to another.

They compare the cost of construction of highways in Australia and Kenya and ask why it had coast so much more in Sri Lanka.  Having  had the privilege of being with one of the Engineers who had worked on the ColomboGalle  Highway and now working on the outer circular road. I saw the on going construction of the outer circular road, the huge bridge being constructed  placing block by block.  It  is the work of  Sri Lankan workers, under the Japanese contractors assisted by Sri Lankan, Philipine and Pakistani Engineers

The land on which the road is built is a waterlogged marshy land . Lot of preparation has gone on the land itself before the road  had been constructed on huge cement towers driven deep into the land. The first layer of the road is earth checked for its reliability, some times collected from different parts  of Sri Lanka and transported to the place of work.  The sites where earth had been removed have to be  prepared , grass and shrubs  planted on it, and conserved   to avoid land slides.  The next layer of gravel is constantly checked for its quality and resistance before the road is carpeted. All that cost a tremendous amount of money.

Every land area where the highways were  constructed had required careful examination  and different construction methods had been used depending on the situation of the land and its quality of resistance. In Sri Lanka the highways run through villages and towns unlike in Australia  or Kenya where villages are either not by the highways or are far apart.  In Sri Lanka the highways run through villages.  Therefore facilities have to be provided for the people in villages on either side of the  highway to move from place to place. The 124 Km long southern highway  required the construction of  a large number of overhead bridges for the use of the villagers on either side of it.

Hence the critics who blatantly say the cost of construction  of highways are far excessive and that the discrepancy between the cost of construction of one highway and another  is a  proof  of  pilfering by way of commissions and bribes is an exaggeration  and  unverified statements made to bring disrepute to the Government.  Good governance is not measured from vague statements of vilification.

One who makes a sincere objective evaluation of the work carried out by the Government of the President Mahinda Rajapakse since 2005 from  the elimination of terrorism, construction of roads to extending science education to the village schools, would see the extent of work the Government has carried out, which would have been impossible if there had been no good governance.

The President Mahinda Rajapakse  has begun a continuous process of development we have to forget democracy of the west and make democracy a workable method for Sri Lanka which has come out of a disastrous terrorism.  Therefore we cannot change pilots half way, which would result in a catastrophe.  We should therefore continue with President Mahinda Rajapakse to allow him complete the  process of development he began since 2005, and for him to unite the people which he alone can do,  and end corruption , and  criminality  and make our people peaceful and disciplined.

In order to continue development,  to create a disciplined, safe and secure environment and give peace and happiness to the people, let us not hesitate to allow the President Mahinda Rajapakse  remain  the pilot until we reach our goal of success, unity and prosperity.

From Kandy to Colombo and then to Galle

Fast trains, highways, tall buildings clean cities are no more unrealized dreams  to the people of  Sri Lanka.   The inter city train takes you from  Kandy to Colombo in a matter of three hours.  Kandy is just beginning its beautification program while Colombo is already into it.

There is in the mean time a wide disparity in the thinking of the people in Kandy and those in Colombo, so much so  when it comes to elections, which is uppermost in the minds of the people today.  The Presidential elections not being too far away, one has to be cautious in bringing  people into a conversation on politics.

In Kandy there are those who speak of corruption and thinking of voting differently this time though they had voted twice to the President Mahinda Rajapakse. But  when they are asked  whether they could really expect a change from the opposition, they admit they do not believe that neither Chandrika nor Ranil Wickramasinghe could bring  any change  but  they think Maithripala  may be able to.  But on second thought they think perhaps  they should give the President Mahinda Rajapakse a third chance. So said a man seated next to me when he  was getting up to get down from the bus.

Some of the women  voters said they would  definitely  not vote for  Maithripala Sirisena who for them is a traitor who cannot be trusted.. A fishmonger taking fish on his bicycle while selling fish said he would not waste his vote on any one as he is certain if there is any one who could  make changes it is the President  Rajapakse as he  has already the experience of  making changes.

A young Muslim boy when he was asked who he thinks would be elected, he said though he does not know much about politics he thought it would be the President Mahinda Rajapakse as he is already well known. When he was asked what the Muslims think about him, he said according to his parents President Rajapakse  is accessible to all without distinction of  race and religion.

Another man in a bus  wondered what had happened to all the gold that had been taken by the Armed Forces. When he was told that the government is of course answerable  and that the gold would be handed over to owners. He said that if that were to happen the President will definitely  clear the doubts the  people have about the  corruption of the government.

In fact it was reported recently that at a function held at the Temple Trees,  some of the gold  seized from the terrorists were handed over to the respective families.  It was said that further investigations are being carried out to search for the owners of the gold still remaining with the government..

The Colombians are another kettle of fish. There are some who are very critical of the President Mahinda Rajapakse yet remain doubtful of  the  alternative candidate presented by the opposition.   The several MoUs that the Common Candidate of the opposition was made to sign with UNP, JHU, TNA, Chandrika and Sarath Fonseka  are not to the liking of some of the Colombians. Nevertheless, they seem to agree that handing over the executive powers to a Prime Minister would be a good beginning even though the time frame of 100 days for the purpose has been  rather exaggerated to please the crowd.  But as time goes it appears that there is a change of hearts even amoung the Colombians.

Srirsena the common candidate makes far too many contradiction changing what he had said a while ago to some thing entirely different from what he says later.  The TV channels are profiting from it to portray Sirisena as an unreliable political element.

Tissa Attanayaka`s cross over to the government side followed by Gamanpila of JHU leaving the party is a great deception for those who were critical of the President ,  now they are beginning  to have second thoughts.  One complained that the government of the President is turning out to be oligarchic, but nevertheless he said  he sees no alternative but to vote  Mahinda Rajapakse.

Lot of attention is being paid  to talk shows and debates in theTelevision, but the representatives of the opposition supporting the Common candidate are unable to come out with new facts to challenge those representing the President Mahinda Rajapakse. These debates have turned out to be boring and a waste of time ending in unpleasant worthless arguments reduced to personal attacks on those representing the government.

A young man in a restaurant inside the Arcade in Galle Fort said that lot of persons he has come in contact with will surely vote for the President. The Common Candidate he said has not proved to be a challenge to the President  both by his personality and by his inability to explain what new changes he proposes if he would come to hold the reins of the Government.

He says that many of the Europeans who frequent the Restaurant  express their admiration to the President who has made remarkable changes  in a very short time. They some times act to show  how they traveled in vehicles  on  the broken potholed roads  that existed then , and said how comfortable   it is to travel now on  carpeted highways.

A three wheeler  taking us from Maharagama to Ratmalana showed the pavement around Bellanvila  and said that  he never expected such development. It is thanks to the President’s brother  that they see beauty and cleanliness in towns now and said there is no question that the people should change this President to another for some more time.

He scolded  UNP and Chandrika Kumaratunga saying that they had  failed to give some thing similar to what the President Mahinda Rajapakse has given to Sri Lanka, and said that their attempt to  replace the  President  will never materialize.

From what one can perceive and hear  from random discussions of ordinary people are that the President Mahinda Rajapakse has not lost his popularity amoung the people  despite all the talk of corruption, and the executive power he derives from his position.   The chances are that the President Mahinda Rajapakse may win the presidential elections with a greater percentage of votes.
