Sirisena, Wicramasinghe and a money launderer’s Budget.

The Budget Presented to the Parliament by the Finance Minister of Yahapalanaya is a complete sellout of Sri Lanka to Foreigners. The Budget is now in Committee stage in the Parliament. The SLFP Parliamentarians who have accepted Ministries should give them up and join rank with the UPFA rather than betray the country and the people who voted for them. The President Sirisena is not the country, therefore the loyalty to the country is greater than the loyalty to the President Sirisena.

In this Parliament of today controlled by the yahapalanaya Ranil Wickramasinghe the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka behaves like a clown. He calls the Members of the Parliament by all types of names –pimps, gypsies, donkeys, beggars and monkeys.  He likes to laugh at his own clowning.  Ranil does not seem to understand that his fashion of behaviour in the Parliament is not in keeping with the position he holds as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. 

As a Prime Minister he should have patience, controlled temper and wise, intelligent repartees.  It is not his coat and tie that make him respectable but the way he behaves and speaks.  He should not speak hatefully of the former President who was a great leader, and Ranil should speak more respectfully when he refers to him.

The latest clowning of Ranil was when he called the parliamentarians criticising the Budget “card board” patriots.  All these insults to the representatives of the people in Parliament are indirect insults to the people of the country.  This shows to what extent the PM does not care either the Parliamentarians nor the people of the country .  Ranil Wickramasinghe the Prime Minister has become a law unto himself.

Unfortunately Ranil Wickramasinghe is a man without a vision, a disadvantage to a man expected to decide on the destiny of a nation. His policy statement  is not different from that which he had presented in  2004. Some right wing “intellectuals” point out that the Budget present by Ravi Karunanayake contradicts Prime Minister’s policy statement. Ranil Wickramasinghe often makes strange promises. In some of his earlier election campaigns he promised gold chains and bracelets  to young people if he was elected and recently he said he will make the farmers wear jeans.  It also  shows the extent to which Ranil Wickramasinhe’s  mind is warped  and West oriented.

This is the man that calls representatives of the people in Parliament  “cardboard patriots” because they are defending Sri Lanka against  the yahapalana  political leadership of archaic mentality who has joined hands with the West to destroy Sri Lanka that had remained a unitary state with a Buddhist culture for over 2500 years,  which had accepted other communities in good faith to share this land.

Sirisena the President of Yahapalanaya, is the duplicate of the Prime Minister except for the clowning part. He lacks humour, because his mind is burning with jealousy and hatred. They  speak of democracy but democracy left Sri Lanka on the 8^th January,2015 when the democratic and the popular people’s President was defeated at the Presidential election.

From the day one of his election Sirisena the newly elected President broke all norms of democracy and  acted completely in breach of the Constitution of Sri Lanka. He reminds one of Musila of the Jataka story “Guttila and Musila”. Sirisena like Musila  has already broken the first few strings of the seven stringed violin, it remains few more strings to prove he is better than the master. He has played with all the seven strings so badly, there is no saying that he will do better with  what remains.

Sirisena’s  swearing in of Ranil Wickramasinghe as his Prime Minister when there was already a Prime Minister  was his blundering entry into the high office of President which marked his incompatibility. It was  a further distasteful confirmation of his indecent excessive greed for power for which he walked away stealthily like a thief in the night  back stabbing the leader of the political party that  was the cradle of his political life to join hands with his political enemies to change the path of  development and progress Sri Lanka was taking to divert it to a disastrous political abyss from which it will never be able to climb back.

Beside Sirisena’s incompetence he has allowed himself to be manipulated by scheming self ambitious  Christians and ugly revengeful Western lackeys. Sirisena has joined hands with them, to  sacrifice Sri Lanka to satisfy their ego.  They are  taking the President  Mahinda Rajapakse , his family, friends and all in some way connected to him to discredit them, label them corrupt and take them to courts or merely  smear them with false accusations to take away the love and affection the grateful  people of Sri Lanka have for them.

Hemantha Warnakulasuriya PC said in TV program Pethkada, that Mahinda Rajapakse was different after the elimination of terrorists, and that he took himself for a King.  One can imagine the immense pride, great satisfaction,  relief and happiness he had when  the end of terrorism was announced to him. In a way one cannot blame the former president feeling like a King as he was the only political leader who was able to eliminate terrorism and bring whole of Sri Lanka  under one flag , like King Dutugamunu who united the country after chasing away the Cholas who had occupied the then capital and the environment of Sri Lanka for nearly 25 years.

In the same breath Warnakulasuriya said that JR Jayawardhana too  acted like a King, when he became the  President in 1978.  But that was JR’s egoism. JR had done  nothing glorious  to Sri Lanka to claim that right. He only made matters worse for Sri Lanka after  his period of Presidency.  Of course Hemantha Warnakulasuriya has to be careful not to praise Mahinda Rajapakse, lest he would be taken by Ranil Wickramasinghe’s FCID for questioning and remanding.  That is what Sri Lanka has become today after the pretended Yahapalanaya of Sirisena.  People fear to speak the truth in respect of the former President.  There is no democracy any more in Sri Lanka it is a dictatorship and a police state of Sirisena, Wickramasinghe and Chandrika. 

Sri Lanka is going down the drain to disaster, but Ranil and his lackey Mangala send FCID after the former President or any one connected to the former government .  That is the only thing Ranil seems to be doing,  all the rest are visionless ideas he had when he was Prime Minister last time in 2001-2004.

It is better leave Chandrika without of comments, as one sees her boiling jealousy, anger and hatred in her distorted face, reminding one of the Goddess Kali of the Hindu pantheon of Gods. Chandrika claims nobility being a Bandaranaike, which may cause the skeletal remains of  her dead parents rattle in their coffins.

If Sirisena is a President who respects democracy and good governance, he should have stood aloof, independent and not interfering in political battles  amoung political parties during the general election of August,2015.  He should have known despite his treachery in leaving his own political party stealthily to join with the UNP, that once he is  elected the President with the massive vote of the Tamils and Muslims he nevertheless, becomes the President of all the people in Sri Lanka and therefore he should remain independent, silent, non-interfering without taking sides with any community or a political party.

But he did the opposite by doing all he could to insult, discredit, discourage and stop the political carrier of  his former political party leader Mahinda Rajapakse  in addition to  the wounds he inflicted on him the day he walked away in the night like a rogue to give himself up to Ranil Wickramasinghe, Chandrika Kumaratunga, Champika Ranawaka and Mangala Samaraweera, to make of him a President of the reactionary forces, his political enemies.

Venerable Maduluwawe Sobhitha thero, when he saw how what he expected of Sirisena and the united force he helped to build against the former President had been distorted and was selling Sri Lanka to foreign forces, he spoke against it.  Sirisena and Ranil Wickramasinghe saw the danger Venerable Sobitha posed  to their  Yahapalanaya. The venerable Bikkhu who was taken suddenly ill was packed off to a hospital in Singapore from where he never returned alive.  Some say the same thing happened to another venerable monk who wanted reforms – the Late Venerable Soma Thero.

Sirisena was sure that Mahinda Rajapakse will win  at the general election on the 17 August,2015. He therefore had to forget that he was the President of Sri Lanka  before he became the President of the SLFP and the UPFA, and began doing all he could to stop Mahinda Rajapakse win at the elections.  Sirisena announced to Mahinda Rajapakse that he as the President will not  make him the Prime Minister even if he wins at the election, and named some members of the UPFA who are suitable to be appointed as  Prime Minister.  Then on the eve of the General elections he sacked the General Secretaries of the SLFP and UPFA and appointed two of his lackeys in their place.

Can all those actions of Sirisena the President of Sri Lanka be called democratic or a mark of good governance ?  Naturally the anti Sri Lanka foreign governments applaud his Presidency as democratic and proof of good governance, but the people in the villages  do not acclaim him as such.  But they are unable to change things as democracy has been taken away from them and a police state installed with the connivance of the Western Governments.

Yahapalanaya is  a government like the caravan that moves on  however much the dogs bark.

All  Sirisena  did was  with the one intention of  making UNP leader Ranil Wickramasinghe the member of the Mont Pelerin Society,  the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka as it was he who took him out of the political shadow into lime light of politics.

The ego centred SLFP Parliamentarians who have joined hands with the visionless UNP  do not see,  in their greed  to hold onto Ministries and to keep away from the feared  Ranil Wickramasinghe’s FCID,  are becoming a part of the UNP plan, (to destabilise Sri Lanka which had been brought out of the clutches of terrorism and developed to be a middle income country), to handover  Sri Lanka to the USA and the West to make it once again a dependent country. In that effort Yahapalanaya goons have distanced Sri Lanka from China and embraced India and the West. UK has prome

Yahapalanaya in the eyes of Maithripala Sirisena is making speeches and meeting  great white personalities of the world and shake their un-gloved hands.  He is happy with that , the dangers that come to Sri Lanka, from the actions taken by the Pelerin Ranil Wickramasinghe , Mangala Samaraweera and Ravi Karunanayake,  he  is blissfully unaware.  It is normal with a man despite having been a Minister of Health in Mahinda Rajapakse’s government, whose knowledge of  worldly matters  is limited. He even thought the  Buckingham Palace was in New York.  He is happy with little things repeating before assembled gatherings  his great achievement of shaking the un-gloved hand of the Queen.

How can the Sri Lankan people expect good governance from this cabal led by Maithripala Sirisena ?

It is those  others rich and self interested Sinhala of the business community , self interested academics, perhaps the Catholics because the Church demanded their support for a UNP government, teachers who expected a Rs.10,000,00 increase to their basic salary , and others who wanted a change and the Tamils and Muslims the major contributors of vote for Maithripala Sirisena’s victory at the Presidential election, and those others who  wanted a change from Mahinda Rajapakse led government,  having partly swallowed the rumours prepared for people’s consumption by  the experts of the American CIA, and those who fear being taken away by Ranil’s FCID, that support Yahapalanaya directly or indirectly in silence. 

Ranil’s FCID and accusation of former government culture  has become much worse than the White Van culture the Yahapalanaya Ministers often refer to making themselves knights in shining armor.  Mont Pelerin Ranil Wickramasinghe is the agent of the USA, with his lackey Mangala Samaraweera all out to sell Sri Lanka to the West. 

Under the Yahapalanaya Government, Sri Lanka  seems already occupied by the West. UK  offers 6 million UK pounds to upgrade Sri Lanka Armed Forces appointing UK Military Attaché in New Delhi to  overseer how the funds are used.  Norway in the  meantime is to send  an expert to help Sri Lanka in the preparation of a New constitution. 

Sirisena’s Yahapalanaya is like the Marchal Petain’s Vichy Government of France which collaborated with the Germans  during their occupation of France. Mangala Samaraweera and Ranil Wickramasinghe sponsored at the Geneva UNHRCouncil the USA resolution against Sri Lanka

Mangala Samaraweera said very proudly as a great achievement that 725 of the Rajapakse clan is under accusation by the Ranil’s FCID.  It is on that falsehood of corruption allegations the Yahapalanaya Government has built their pseudo democratic government and that for them is the  only means of  survival as a government and have the protection of the West.

Mount Pelerin Ranil Wickramasinghe following the USA regime change instructions from the CIA and the USA Embassy in Sri Lanka tried all possible tricks of the trade to change the Rajapaksa Regimaya, with rumours of  White Van kidnappings, disappearance of journalists, killing of Lasantha  Wickramatunga. It was all to accuse the Mahinda Rajapakse Government and make the people rise against it, like the Arab Spring in Tunisia and Egypt. But the people of Sri Lanka saw through it and refused to rise against their beloved President Mahinda Rajapakse , Gotabhaya Rajpakse and the Rajapakse Government.

USA thought  Mount Pelerin Wickramasinghe lacked the intelligence to change Rajapakse regime despite their well thought out plans, with an on going resolution against Sri Lanka Armed Forces for violation of human rights and war crimes.  Finally USA arranged to educate  Pelerin Wickramasinghe in Regime Change Tactics.

“ UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is reportedly on a study tour at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to learn the art of toppling governments. After his stint at the MIT, the Opposition Leader will head to Harvard University, one of the finest places of academic and research excellence, on a lecturing tour. That is at least what his acolytes at the UNP say………………Nonetheless, Wickremesinghe needs to do some soul-searching during his stint at two great American universities. He could then see that he himself has been the main handicap for his own Party, the UNP……………The good thing is that those MIT dons would realize that Ranil is the real obstacle and they could well suggest that he should step down from the Party leadership……………..As for the so-called invite extended to Ranil by Harvard, we have our reservations. This could very well be another gimmick by his spin doctors to hoodwink the gullible locals that Ranil is a sage, even sought after by the world's greatest academia. Wickremesinghe should not fool himself believing that people will buy that silly joke.”

However Mont Pelerin Ranil Wickramasinghe came back from his  stint in Masachusette Institute of Technology  named as a Robert E. Wilhelm Fellow. He immediately announced his intention to contest at the next Presidential election.

Now with a qualification from MIT, Pelerin Wickramasinghe  changed his tactics to oust the Rajapakse Regime , accusing Mahinda Rajapakse making his government a family affair and accused him for corruption and bribing the LTTE  Slowly this corruption theme against Mahinda Rajapakse and his family gained ground.  Every member of the UNP leadership made refernce to Mahinda Rajapakse’s corruption and enriching his family  and called  it a one family government.

Atlast CIA the Masachusette Institute of Technology andf Pelerin Ranil Wickramasinghe have all together found the solution for the hitherto unfound found solution for the regime change in Sri Lanka.

Stories of Mahinda Rajapakse’s corruption  were heard from every speech made by leaders of the Opposion,  news reports, and TV political debates.  No doubt after elimination of terrorism the President Rajapakse was able to get aid not in Millions but in billions, therefore that was easy to make people wonder whether with that amount of money flowing in could there be some truth in the rumours being spread by UNP and JVP about the corruption of the Rajapakse Government.  People knew that Ravi Karunanayake, Karu Jayasuriaya all were enriched by small scale corruptions, and Ranil was accused of the Batalanda Torture camps, but yet the rumours of corruption against the President Mahinda Rajapakse continued  even the media swallowed it.  This was, a psychological warfare.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s  victory over terrorism , bringing freedom and security, massive the infrastructure constructions, propelling the country to a middle income country status , became secondary to the rumours of corruption.  This was partly responsible for the people of middle range intelligence as well to think of a change when the elections came around.

President Mahinda Rajapakse or even  his brothers leave alone other family members were certainly not corrupt. Rajapakse family was  well known and they were a honest family. At the beginning the  senior  members of the family took to politics at the demand of the people.  Even Chamal Rajapakse was invited by Mrs.  Sirimavo Bandaranayake to take to politics.  But people like to smear dirt on people. And falsehood is readily accepted, casting doubt on  truth.

Though many accusations have been made against Rajapaksas and their contacts, for bribery and corruption nothing has been proved against any one of them. It is possible that FCID may “plant “ evidence to take at least one of the Rajapakse’s into custody. It would not be a surprise  when we think of the cruelty of the man behind the torture camps of Batalanda and constant reference to Rajapakse as the reason for all the failures of the Yahapalanaya Government.

But if Mahinda Rajapakse misused funds how could he have  left behind such a developed country and a financially sound heritage six years after elimination of terrorism.  People are not naive to believe these stories of corruption levelled against  the former President and those who were close to him.  People are happy with what  Rajapaksas contributed for their security , freedom and for improving the quality of their lives.

The Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake who is not unknown for financial corruption with the sale of Sathosa to a private party when he was in another Government of Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe. He had been accused for money laundering.  But the case against him was decided in a strange manner.  Please read on:

“ The case was postponed by High Court Judge Devika de Livera Tennakoon when Defence Counsel Reinzie Arsekualaratne informed the judge that Minister Karunanayake was unable to be present before the Courts yesterday as he was due to present the 2015 interim budget before the parliament. As there was no objection from the prosecution, the case was postponed to March 4. 

The Attorney General indicted Nexia Corporation, Linton Sirisoma and Karunanayake for allegedly facilitating money laundering in violation of Central bank regulations and the Exchange Control Act by depositing Rs. 390 million in a Standard Chartered bank account, which had been later used to purchase shares of the Union Bank. The transfer had been made by Sri Lankan American billionaire and hedge fund dealer Raj Rajarathnam. 

During the hearings it was alleged that Karunanayake was directly involved in the fraud and that he intervened to collect the funds once the money was deposited in Sri Lanka. 

Exchange Control is the function of the Central Bank. The Central Bank is governed by the Monetary Board. The Secretary/Finance (Treasury) is a member of the Monetary Board. The Minister of Finance is the Boss of the Secretary/Finance. How nice to have a person charged with Exchange Control crimes as Finance Minister a good governance activist told Colombo Telegraph. ”

“The Attorney General indicted Karunanayake for allegedly facilitating money laundering in violation of Central Bank regulations and the Exchange Control Act by depositing Rs.390 million in a private bank account, which had been later used to purchase shares of another bank.

While announcing the judgement judge stated that Attorney General Department is permitted to file another case on this matter.

According to Judge Irangani, the decision was reached upon taking into consideration the objections raised by the lawyers of the defence with regard to anomalies in the indictment produced against Minister Ravi Karunanayake. Justice Perera also said that the Attorney General has the capability to file a case once again and that an appeal could also be filled by the AG, if the need arises.

Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake spoke to the media following the court hearing, saying that the court case which was filed without any proper reason has proven futile. The minister also stated that while he is present at courts for the 27th time with his lawyers, the former defense secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is running away.

Today’s judgement was also the final judgment handed down by justice Irangani Perera as she bid farewell to her service as a judge and retired following 31 years of service.

Interesting isn’t it ?  There is no smoke without fire. 

What ever the judgement the readers  could come to their own conclusion about the honesty of the Finance Miniter of the Yaha Palanaya Government.  If one had watched some of the TV Political programs such  as “ Derana 360”, “Satana” or “Salanakuna” in which Ravi Karunanayake appeared, one would have seen how he responded to questions and  what an unreliable character he is, evading issues asking counter questions, giving evasive ambiguous answers.

He has no compunction even if he is to  sell Sri Lanka to foreigners or divide  the island to allow the Tamils to have a separate State.  In Sri Lanka every one speaks of his Tamil origin , now of course even the Wikipedia has made him a full blooded Roman Catholic Sinhala. But he behaves like a Tamil. He laughed at the Sri Lanka Armed Forces when they were engaged risking their lives to eliminate terrorism to bring peace and security to Sri Lanka. Whenever  he  refers to the former President he just calls him Rajapakse disrespectfully. A Buddhist Sinhala would refer to him more respectfully. He is a friend of Raj Rajaratnam who financed terrorist  LTTE. 

The Governor of the Central Bank  Arjuna Mahendra who is a friend of his is also a friend of Raj Rajaratnam.  What part the Finance Minister played in the Bond scam is not known ? But no one speaks any more of the 2 billion loss  in the Central Bank bond Scam and Arjuna Mahendra  the friend of the Finance Minister who was directly involved  in it continues to be the Governor of the Central Bank.

But theYahapalanaya cabal  easily speaks of the corruption of Mahinda Rajapakse and how about speaking for a change of the corruption of Ravi Karunanayake and Ranil Wickramasinghe who may have profited from the 2 billion Rupees involved in the Bond scam. If they are honest they should  appoint another man as the  Governor of Central Bank.

Ravi Karunanayake’s Budget is a complete sell out of Sri Lanka to Foreigners.  Whether the land is sold outright or  given on 99 year lease amounts to the same.  Generations of Sri Lankans will lose the use of these lands. Who has not heard of United Fruit Companies which shaped  some of the countries  in Latin America where they implanted themselves, buying land on 99 year leases ?

“When the Banana Company arrives in Macondo, the jungle town in Gabriel García Márquez’s “One Hundred Years of Solitude,” it brings with it first modernity and then doom. “Endowed with means that had been reserved for Divine Providence in former times,” García Márquez writes, the company “changed the pattern of the rains, accelerated the cycle of harvests and moved the river from where it had always been.” It imported “dictatorial foreigners” and “hired assassins with machetes” to run the town; it unleashed a “wave of bullets” on striking workers in the plaza. When the Banana Company leaves, Macondo is “in ruins.”

Sri Lanka is courting danger in leasing out  large land areas of 5000 acres for foreigners on 99 year leases.  The investors could completely change the culture and the minds of the people and bring in complete chaos into our country.

The government encourages handing over public enterprises as well to private companies.  They get loans from the West on conditions laid by the donor which would introduce more poverty. Sri Lanka should not be developed according to other countries. UNP cannot make Sri Lanka a Singapore or a Malaysia.  The Yahapalanaya has begun to change Sri Lanka into a rich foreigners play ground as Cuba was under Batista.  

Aid from the West, IMF or World Bank come with conditions  against welfare for the poor. Under these conditions of the IMF and the World Bank Yahapalanaya will hand over hospitals, schools, water, etc. to private companies.  It would be a treachery against  the people of Sri Lanka  for any Parliamentarian to  vote in favour of this Budget.

This Budget is capitalist flavoured. The ordinary people of the country will be  made dependent on the rich.  The government servants will have less or no pensions as  government will have no sufficient income as the countries finances will be controlled by foreign companies, which will be the owners of land, public  establishments, institutions. Welfare facilities to the people will be decided by the foreign companies.

The Budget proposal of stopping pension rights and introducing a contributory pension system seems to be  dictated by the Western donor states. Stopping the distribution of clothes to school  children , and providing fertilisers to farmers substituting it for voucher or  a cash allowance, may help Western investors to provide clothes and manure at their price to farmers and school children.

If Mahinda Rajapaksa was the President today the country would have continued with development projects. There would have been a sound economic development. Only problem would have come from the reactionary West and America passing resolutions in Geneva threatening to take the Armed Forces to courts for war crimes. The President Mahinda Rajapakse would have been able to keep the TNA in its place and strengthened the Armed Forces and provided more security to the country. The Colombo Port city would have progressed. The Mahaseya in Anuradhapura  would have risen up to a respectable height. There would have been rich harvests.  Mattala Air port may have begun to function with more planes landing in it. The people would have been happy. Mahinda Rajapakse may have reduced prices of consumer articles…….

Yahapalanaya has made all that only a dream, the future of Sri Lanka is bleak…..as one would have never expected a year before.

The following members of the SLFP, if they have any self respect, and a modicum of patriotism should not vote for the Budget of Ravi Karunanayake and give up their Ministerial, Deputy Ministerial posts.  It would otherwise be sacrificing the interest of the country to fulfil personal interest.

Sri Lanka –Paradise Lost.

As I walked out of the Airport  on that wet morning  in 2014, the  heavy November showers did not dampen my enthusiasm to be in my beloved Sri Lanka. The crowds of our dear women who had  spent difficult times in Arab homes in the Middle East were seen with tears in their eyes meeting those who had thronged to meet them with love and affection.  Their ordeals over in inhospitable Arab homes they seemed overwhelmed with happiness meeting their dear ones embracing and chatting away with each other. Western countries from one of which  I was arriving could not match that happiness, laughter and uninhibited chatter amoung my people which enlivened that wet morning outside the  Bandaranayake Airport in Sri Lanka.

Travelling from Colombo to Kandy I saw well laid  beds of flower , clean neat paved ways , with well dressed  men ,women, and children,    a highway stretching clean and neat like a ribbon amoung the pleasing lush greenery. Sri Lanka I thought is a veritable paradise, more beautiful and attractive than Paris the most beautiful city of the world with its old world grandeur.  There was heavy traffic,  cars vans and luxury buses plying on the highway.

There were no road blocks or soldiers to be seen, but there were crowds of people every where.  They were free, happy, peaceful, without fear, having put the past thirty years of suffering out of their minds. That was what I saw all along the way to my village far away from the happy , active crowds, quiet and peaceful where I was to stay for a whole year. 

I was happy to be at home and in Sri Lanka.  Later I was able to see how Sri Lanka has been  transformed into a wander land after a disastrous terrorism had been stopped by the heroic soldiers of a well organised Armed Force, led by the wise and  determined political leadership of the President Mahinda Rajapakse.

In the village  the  people were happy, except few amoung government servants, shop owners, or private sector employees.  They were complaining of high cost of living and difficulties they have to  surmount with their income.  But I found that the standard of living of many of these people had improved, with all modern household amenities, mobile telephones, running water, and improved sanitary conditions. 

The problem with them was that they seem to be living beyond their means.  The children  have to be sent to tuition classes, or sent to schools in town in school vans, or taking loans to improve houses, buy cars or vans. One is never satisfied with what one has and wants to have more.  That is human nature. But others living ordinary lives as villagers were happy and speaks gratefully of the President Mahinda Rajapakse who had made their lives better , and above all  for the peace he brought to the country which has kept  them  away from the horror of living under the shadow of terrorism.

1. Gotabhaya Rajapakse the Secretary  of Defence who coordinated the armed Forces to defeat and eliminate terrorism had within a short time after the elimination of terrorisd taken over the Secretariat of the Ministry of Urban Development for the beautification of  cities. He is a genius who made a success of everything he  under took to do for the protection of the country , to beatify the country shattered by  thirty years terrorism, and his vision of making a peace time army a builder of the nation.

I saw the evergreen land of my birth  with a culture nurtured for  over 2500 years by the blessing of the Buddha , Dhamma and Sangha, rising up once again in its breath taking beauty as an independent Sovereign state having shed its servility to the West that smeared  Sri Lanka trying to efface its Sinhala Buddhist culture introducing doubtful gods and cultures of blood and cruelty, where even the animals were not safe to live in peace.

Thanks to my people who elected a man appropriate to our culture and philosophy, a man  with  love and compassion a Sinhala Buddhist Mahinda Rajapakse who made Sri Lanka a proud country.

 Sri Lanka is at last independent in the real sense of the word, able to  take its own decisions to make it a paradise in Asia without discrimination against other communities, demanding the other Communities who were saved from terrorism to ask not for separation but unity  to make  a Nation of Sri Lankans.

But it’s the West that cripples developing countries as it is well known. West  wanted to change Rajapakse Regime in Sri Lanka and bring Sri Lanka back into its fold as a protective State of the West. They were intent on this regime change as Rajapakse regime in   Sri Lanka had become a challenge to their white superiority, sore in their eyes, which refused to let them sway their power in the southern seas.

The Chinese Government was  aiding Sri Lanka in its development process. The West will not provide government to government aid to developing countries, it only allows its private sector investments like the well known American United Fruit Companies which change developing countries onto “ Banana Republics”.  These investors made countries poorer, giving only a pittance of their earning to the countries, taking  away a  larger proportion of its earning to America.

President Mahinda Rajapakse had stopped that, and the result is the development of Sri Lanka not in line with any other country, but as Sri Lanka.

I took the train to Colombo and enjoyed the lush greenery the newly constructed houses of the people, beautiful school buildings, the  paddy fields under cultivation.

The old Colombo of which once an American tourist said that it stinks, has become today one of the most clean cities of the world. The old colonial buildings have been renewed .  They are clean and set in spending surroundings giving it an old world splendour which was never their before. The Independent Memorial Hall  in the Torrington square is beautiful in a setting of unmatched beauty. The under ground hall has been turned into a Museum containing the statues of those men of all walks of life  who contributed to make Sri Lanka what it is today.

The nearby drab colonial building which was once occupied by the Home Ministry  has been refurbished and made into a beautiful arcade with its  renewed white walls.  

The garden surrounding it has been tastefully arranged making it a joy to walk about and stop now and then to take a photo as a souvenir.   Married couples  come in numbers to be photographed against that  gracious building or in its surrounding gardens.

A little further away is Nelumpokuna Mahinda Rajapakse Theatre, spreading over  a land space of 14000 square meters with a seating capacity of 1288. It has a 690 square meter moving stage, as well as an open air theatre.  The construction of it had been financed by China a great friend of Sri Lanka, who actively participated in turning the vision of Gotabhaya Rajapakse into reality.

Walking further away from the beautiful Torrington Square, we come to a glistening white colonial building  which  houses the Sri Lanka National Museum  with lot of old  historical artefacts.

Taking a three wheeler  to Colombo, you can visit another landmark development project the Pettah Floating Market Complex. This beautiful Floating Market is the work of the  Engineering Units of  the Army and Navy of Sri Lanka. It is a shopping  centre with restaurant and refreshment stalls.  In the night it turns into a beautiful fairyland illuminated with a solar lighting system.

Not far away is the  Fort Railway station the entrance to which has been cleaned to make it a  large open  space provided for people’s manifestations.  The Bus standard has been well organised providing commuters easy access to buses plying to different destinations.

That is not all, there are more surprises in beautified City of Colombo in Sri Lanka. There is the Colombo lotus tower  which is going to be the tallest building in South Asia with a height of 350 meters. It is again being constructed by our friends the Chinese.

Incidentally these areas where these beautiful constructions have been done or are continuing to be done  were the most crowded and unclean parts of Colombo, the past of which would soon be a memory when urbanisation of Colombo undertaken by Gotabhaya Rajapakse is completed.

In Pettah, you also find the Colombo Gold Centre, unbelievable that it had been set up in an old fish Market building. The transformation had been undertaken by the Sri Lanka Army.

A little further away from Colombo is the Bellanwila Temple. A short distance  away from the temple  is the Bellanwila Walking Track another idea of the visionary Secretary of Urban Development  Gotabhaya Rajapakse. It is around the Veressa River which was a marshy stretch of water now made a paradise for migrant bird watchers, joggers, and those who would like to take a cycle  ride around the track. 

There is a food court and seats and tables set for those who wish to take a refreshment  from the nearby food stalls and sit quietly to watch the  evening turn in to a fairy night with automatically lighting up solar lamps.  There is complete security provided with the discrete presence of the  security guards.

After savouring  Colombo’s transformation into that great beauty,  leaving other areas which had been touched by the visionary magician Gotabhaya Rajapakse for another day , I decided to take the Southern Highway to Galle. 

The beautifully laid highway runs 126 kilo meters from Kottawa to Matara .  I took it up to Galle in a comfortable bus. It was a visual feast.  

The  European highways are certainly not as attractive as the Sothern highway I took. It had been financed by the Asian Development Bank and the Japan Bank of International Relations. All this  makes any Sri Lankan coming from abroad proud of the  new developed Colombo city and the highways which are a spectacular  attraction.

Galle Fort

Galle had always been an attractive town. It is more crowded than when I saw it last. But there are better shopping centers.  Unwatuna was very attractive a few years ago .  It has now become a crowded beach- a popular hangout for  western tourists.  There is a large cricket pitch in the centre of the town and from there the road takes you into the  Galle Fort.  It was built by the Portughese and improved on it by the Dutch. The old fort city has also been renovated by the visionary Secretary of Urban development Gotabhaya Rajapakse.

The old Kachcheri  resplendent in its renewed new facelift  a revitalised old structure. It is now a beautiful arcade with restaurants and shops.  The narrow streets of Galle fort have been cleaned and well arranged to make it a new city without loosing its past historical form.  

The Old Dutch Church stands out in its immaculate white walls, the light house, the National and the Maritime Museums make the Gall Fort city appealing to  visitors.

After enjoying  this immense beauty of Sri Lanka in which I immersed myself thanking all the time to those men like the President Mahinda Rajapakse, who with his determination brought peace, and  security to Sri Lanka, Gotabhaya Rajapakse who transformed the old to astonishing new beauty, assisted by  the peacetime activities of our heroic Armed Forces, I came back to my village in Kandy proud of being a part of this paradise which is Sri Lanka.

In the village travelling in buses and trains speaking to people of divers interests from different stations of life, I came to know how the ordinary people enjoyed their lives in a country free of fear and bursting bombs, trusting and relying on the Armed Forces to maintain that security  for generations to come.  The unity of Communities they knew is necessary  but not at a cost to the newly achieved peace and security.

Sri Lanka is a Buddhist country, the King Devanampiyatissa offered Sri Lanka to Buddha Dhamma and Sangha.  There were then no Tamils, Muslims or Christians.  Harking back to that time of sacred sanctity the word of the Buddha was heard every full moon poya day emanating from the Temple Trees the residence of the President of Sri Lanka.  The television was made beautiful with the radiance of  a smiling President Mahinda Rajapakse appearing at opening ceremonies of a road, a bridge, hospital, or  a school.  Sri Lanka was development oriented.

The TV debates had always dissatisfied UNP politicians looking at all development projects negatively,   without even critical appreciation of any. They  condemned infrastructure developments saying that  people cannot eat roads. Mangala Samaraweera, Ravi Karunanayke, Lakshman Kiriella,  laughed at the Armed Forces, refusing to see the risks they take,  and achievements they made in their war against the terrorists.

President Mahinda Rajapakse having had eliminated terrorism was determined to develop Sri Lanka and hoped he would be able to win the hearts of the Tamil people by developing the North.  Lot of money was spent for that purpose  hoping that reconciliation will be more feasible with an enriched North.

All that was though impossible five years ago became possible with the President Mahinda Rajapakse who had the same determination he had to eliminate terrorism, to also develop Sri Lanka. 

The trains started running from Colombo to Jaffna once again. A well carpeted A9 road was laid like a  ribbon all the way from Kandy to Jaffna.

The paddy field were green every where once again and the  farmers had rich harvests.  Sri Lanka was able to export several agricultural products. 

Sri Lanka was self sufficient in the production of rice.

New school  building were opened every where. Information Technology was being brought to village schools. The Colombo Port was being enlarged, a second air port at Mattala was declared open. There was no traffic yet but Air Line companies were paying to keep Mattala Air port working to make it an emergency landing air port.  No where in the world has  great projects become immediately marketable, it takes time to get the attention of  consumers.

The development under Mahinda Chintanaya was in stages.  First was the elimination of terrorism and bringing peace and security to the country.  Second was the development of infrastructure, and development of other sectors including agriculture.  Third was to be the  improvements to people’s standard of living, and bring down prices to reduce the cost of living.

The President Mahinda Rajapakse wanted to make  a far reaching change in the country, giving the benefits of it to its people, and may have thought it would necessitate more than two years to implement the whole of Mahinda Chintanaya.  Therefore, he took the risk of calling for an early election before the end of his term of office. 

That was a wrong calculation. There was enough he had done for Sri Lanka after elimination of terrorism to have confidence of the people to vote him for another term. But he failed to take into account the Tamils and Muslims who were against a united nationalism and was preparing to vote against him.

Unfortunately the 8 January, 2015, ended his carrier as the President. Sri Lanka lost in him a great National leader who was determined to bring the country forward  to develop it to be equal to a developed nation status.

It earned him the anger of the West which tolerates only the countries that develop within the norms set by them.

The West played a leading role in defeating Mahinda Rajapakse at the Presidential elections by gathering the Tamil and Muslim votes against him. His defeat at the January, 2015 elections also marked the lost for the people of Sri Lanka the paradise it became after Mahinda Rajapakse was elected President in 2005.

What happened to Sri Lanka- the Paradise after its loss on the 8^th January,2015. will be left to be related in another article.

Who is Samantha Power ?

 

She is part of the USA Administration represented in the UN.  USA with its 200 odd year history is a hybrid nation of European pioneers who built their nation on the ashes of the original inhabitants.  These pioneers  reduced the original Americans to an insignificant minority.  Therefore American history and culture is not one of unification of people but one of  destruction and division. There primary effort is to keep themselves secure from re-arising of the original inhabitants of America, and destroy nations of composite communities to never make them a challenge to USA.

 

Therefore they interfere into sovereign states to divide people according to communities. The Americans as history has taught them interfere into developing countries to help the minorities  to separate themselves  isolating the majority and make the majority community  less important. This is what they did with the American Indians –the indigenous people of America.Apaches etc.

 

Samantha Power has come to Sri Lanka to  discuss with the Tamils in the North  to discuss  the ways to arrive at their object of a separate Tamil State in the north.  As Sri Lanka is now being ruled by a set of political fools they do not seem to have an idea as to  what USA is upto  after having  changed regime , passing resolutions in Geneva against Sri Lanka for the elimination of Tamil terrorists, getting advise from the Tamil diaspora  making an all out attempt to set a Tamil State in the North. 

 

These foolish Sirisena Ranil Government is facilitating matter for USA and the enemies of Sri Lanka to divide the country making the Tamils the determining factor of Sri Lanka’s breakup as a sovereign state.

 

USA has never in its history helped any country and its people to rise above economic disabilities and assisted them to become a sovereign state  other than to break up nations to form other nations like it did in Serbia.

 

USA has made its past history and destruction of people a culture .  Today USA has no other  object in its foreign policy other than  to  make USA with its 200 odd year history the leading nation of the world.

 

Samantha Power is a part of this hybrid culture. Power once in an interview described a hypothetical need for a “mammoth protection force” to police a peace accord between the Israelis and the Palestinians which drew much criticism. Later she disavowed the comment and had even asked the host of the interview to remove the video from his web.

 

When Samantha  Power was before  the Senate Committee  for the confirmation of her appointment to the UN, Marco Rubio, the Florida Republican, asked her to explain what she meant, in a 2003 essay in The New Republic, when she called for “a historical reckoning with crimes committed, sponsored or permitted by the United States.” Power disavowed the piece, saying that she “probably very much overstated the case,” and adding, “This country is the greatest country on earth. I would never apologize for America.” Rubio pressed the point, leaning toward the microphone, his eyes sweeping the gallery, and Power had to repeat the line—“This is the greatest country on earth”—two more times.

Ron Johnson, a Wisconsin Republican, brandished notes containing a quote in which Power referred to the United States as the “most important empire in the history of mankind.” He asked, “Do you believe America is an empire?”

Power replied, “. I believe that we are a great—a great and strong and powerful country, and the most powerful country in the history of the world,” she said. “Also, the most inspirational.”

Power is an American interventionist to disrupt nations and use war as a tool for that purpose.  Ben Rhodes, the deputy national-security adviser for strategic communications, recalled, that Power has consistently urged the Administration to consider intervention, including intervention in the expanding war in Syria

It is said Power returns over and over to one question: To what end can America’s power be directed? The President, by his own account, is less sanguine.

 

Power worked with traitors to their home land.  She makes it obvious in her visit to Sri Lanka. In Iraq Power was the point person on Iraqis who had worked with Americans.

Power is ambitious.  She has no sympathy for other nations and other people. What matters for her is to make the world believe in the   greatness of America, and project her self importance..” ….. for nearly two decades, Power has left others with a clear sense of her long-range aspirations for higher office and her muscular style of foreign policy. She began her career as a reporter in Bosnia, where her colleagues joked that she might become Secretary of State and reignite the Cold War.

Power is a favourite of President Obama, who himself is not a  sympathetic and a generous  man.  His foreign policy is American centered .  He has one view of terrorism where it concerns America and another where it concerns other countries like Sri Lanka which fought a terrorist “war”. It is a question of their terrorists against whom it is prepared to carry out relentless wars, and terrorists of other countries who America would pamper and encourage.

President Obama, in his speech before the General Assembly of the UN, offered his rationale for the bombing campaign. He described the air strikes with a moral, if not a strategic, certainty that he had previously resisted: “There can be no reasoning, no negotiation, with this brand of evil. The only language understood by killers like this is the language of force. So the United States of America will work with a broad coalition to dismantle this network of death.” It fell to Kerry, Rice, Power, and others to try to recruit and maintain that coalition.

How can the terrorists  be different in Sri Lanka ?

This is Obama’s policy against terrorists as understood by him, their terrorist are real terrorists,  and  terrorists elsewhere like in Sri Lanka for him and Power are freedom fighters. What a set of hypocrites they are   who claim leadership of the world ?

 

Samantha Power wanted to remind her peers of the human implications of terrorism. “It’s not a geopolitical strategic abstraction,” she said. “It is about groups that target families who are flying on airplanes, and take the lives of firefighters who are trying to rescue other people. It’s about preventing that.” So far, progress had been slow. “People have not shut their borders, they have not put laws in place, they have not acted with the urgency that is needed.”

Powers is of Irish Origin. Her father was  a Dublin pub piano player, raconteur, dentist, and drinker named Jim Power—“a fearsomely formidable pub debater,” as the Irish Independent once put it. Samantha Power says “I was extremely close to my father, inseparable, Where we hung out most of the time was the pub.” Her father died at 47 drinking in his favourite Pub.

 

Samantha Power started life as a war reporter in Bosnia. When she was not  accepted to be sent to Bosnia as a war reporter  for lack of experience , she did not hesitate to break into the editors office   “ …….. when the editor left one night she sneaked into his office and stole some stationery. “I wrote this letter saying, ‘Please provide Samantha Power with all the credentials she needs. ” It worked.  That is Samantha Power who will stoop to any thing to have her way..

 

Michael Rose UN Commander in Bosnia had nick named Samantha  and her  reporter friends “ Bomb the Bastards bunch”. . Power had said , “These guys who had been terrorizing these people were going to be stopped!”

 

In her second year of law school, Power took a class on the just use of force. “I began looking at the historical cases of genocide, looking at the Armenians, the Khmer Rouge, and Saddam Hussein’s Al Anfal campaign and Rwanda,” she said. She wrote a paper for class and sent it to Anthony Lewis, then a Timescolumnist, and Martin Peretz, who was editing The New Republic, both of whom followed the Bosnia war closely. They told her she should try to turn it into a book. She did, and the result was “ ‘A Problem from Hell,’ ” published in 2002. In it, Power reconstructs deliberations in the Clinton White House and in the State Department and other agencies as officials overlooked or rejected proposals for U.S. intervention. She criticized those who avoided using the word “genocide” in their statements, and praised those who resigned in protest of inaction, such as Marshall Harris, a thirty-two-year-old Bosnia desk officer at the State Department. America’s repeated refusals to end genocides were not “accidental products of neglect,” Power wrote. “They were concrete choices made by this country’s most influential decision-makers after unspoken and explicit weighing of costs and benefits

 

With the backing of the Security Council, the U.S. and its allies imposed a no-fly zone and bombed Libyan forces. But Gates opposed using the U.S. military to prevent a humanitarian disaster unless there was a clear image of what would follow. In his recent memoir, “Duty,” he recalls telling aides to withhold information on military options from staff members at the National Security Council and the White House: “They don’t understand it, and ‘experts’ like Samantha Power will decide when we should move militarily.”

When I ( Even Osnos of The New Yorker), asked Gates about that criticism, he said, “It was not just her. It was several White House staffers. They were Ben Rhodes and Samantha and, I might add, Susan Rice—particularly strong advocates of getting involved in a U.S. military engagement. And I don’t know whether these folks have a guilt complex over the Clinton Administration’s having botched Rwanda, where the U.S. did nothing, or what, but they are very much driven.” He said, “It becomes detached from U.S. national interests. So I was totally opposed.”

The image of Power, Clinton, and Rice became a cartoon—Obama’s Valkyries leading him to war—but Gates does not believe that Obama ever broadly embraced Power’s expansive view of humanitarian intervention. He said, “I think he was being pressured by the Europeans, particularly the French and the British and the Italians, and their interests were much more directly involved than ours. And I think he was more influenced by that, and by the arguments for preventing this humanitarian disaster, than he was by any kind of broad strategic or philosophical commitment.”

But Power was responsible for the messing in Libya during and after Gaddafi.  On this subject, Power’s characterological direction of error may be the belief that a frank discussion of Libya’s lessons exposes her to deeper criticism, and could undermine support for future interventions. Libya was the first clear test of her toolbox, but she has stopped short of analyzing her record with the rigor that she once brought to the study of others.

Libya’s deterioration had a spillover effect. “For many in the government—including the President—Libya didn’t go so well,” the former senior White House aide told me. “If Libya had been a great success, that would’ve created more momentum on the Syria debate. And it wasn’t.”

Power who had the ear of the President was responsible for the Lybian disaster. Power speaking about Obama had told the journalist , “I can be a pain in the ass, and that’s what he wants. That’s what’s so amazing. There are plenty of people out there who could check the conscience box.” She went on, “There are milder personalities that could create the illusion of inclusion, and spare you the headache of argument and counter-argument, and President Obama did not choose that milder version.”

Power and Obama entered the Administration farther apart than their pedigrees and their friendship might have suggested: she advocated intervention and American exceptionalism; he spoke of America as the most powerful leader in the world, but recoiled from the adventurism of the Bush wars and the presumption of enduring American primacy, focussing instead on the need to rebuild the country at home. After nearly six years, Power still believes that America retains the capacity for brute or moral force to shape the course of global events—to bend the curve—but Obama, by his own account, does not. To some degree, there has always been a contradiction between the Administration’s determination to retrench from the costly adventures in Iraq and Afghanistan and the expectation of restoring American credibility through moral leadership and actions.

Power had said, “As time wears on, I find myself gravitating more and more to the G.S.D. people”—the “get shit done” people, a term favored by Susan Rice. “We’re racing against the clock here to get as much done as we can. So when you run across people who know how to be bureaucratic samurais, or are especially persuasive in their diplomacy internationally, spend more time on those relationships, and on brainstorming with those individuals, to achieve a common purpose. Principles and positions only take you so far.” ♦

These are the perons Sri Lanka yahapalanaya  has embraced criticising Mahinda Rajapakse regime which made Sri Lanka an independent Sovereign State neither attached to the West nor to the East.  Samantha Power is a dangerous person to be allowed to come to Sri Lanka and meet the Tamils.  With this type of relationship Sri Lanka will not remain a unitary Sovereign State for long. Samantha Power  speaking of Sri Lanka had referred to a darkest and most painful chapters in its country’s past. 

That chapter is not what it was before the 8 th January, 2015, but it is, what it has become since Maithripala Sirisena became the President. Sri Lanka which saw continued development projects since the elimination of terrorists is stagnating today, bringing it closer to bankruptcy and a territorial break up. Sri Lanka under Maithripala Sirisena’s Presidency has already become failed State.

Samantha Power has met the Foreign Minster Mangala Samaraweera- a person blind to political reality through his hatred of the former President, who  continues to push the government into  a precipice of disaster. Samantha Power has not made a friendly visit and her visit has other reasons beneficial to USA. She had not failed to mention  that USA is serious about the accountability process , a semantic infiltration  for war crimes investigations. 

The pat on the back with which poor Maithripala Sirisena will be happy may be  her remark: "One example I shared with the Foreign Minister is the President's intention to dilute the power of the presidency at a time all around the world we have leaders who are trying to extend their powers and term limits, change their constitutions in order to ensure that they have more power. This is a fresh air in strengthening checks and balances in Sri Lanka".

However she has warned, "so we are watching, I am here to find out from the people of Sri Lanka what the U.S. could do to make your democracy more prosperous". But she only met the Tamil Separatists , and they are only a part of the people of Sri Lanka.

Samantha Power has lot of qualifications but she is no diplomat. She openly supports Sri Lanka Tamil dissidents .  That has become the role of USA and Europe today.  She who visits Sri Lanka for the first time should have also gone to the South to inquire what the Sinhala people have to say about the Sri Lanka Tamils.  She has not come to help reconcile the communities, but distance the Tamils further away from the majority Sinhala.  That is why people like her are a danger to Sri Lanka.  But the pelerine Ranil Wickramasinghe is not a patriotic Sinhala politician.  That is why he dos not raise his voice against  the visiting Americans and Un Officials who pander to the cause of the Tamil separatists.

The present Government of Maithripala Sirisena has made Sri Lanka a subject nation , a colony of the USA and the West.   They will further destroy Sri Lanka that was saved from terrorism and gradually developed as a sovereign State into development, peace and security.

We want USA,UN or Western visitors to speak to the Tamil separatists and tell them the necessity to reconcile with other communities and make unitary Sri Lanka their true home.  Sri Lanka Tamils should take their own decitions without being influenced by the Tamil diaspora which has a different Agenda.

Goodbye Samantha Power we do not like you, please do not come again to put people against people in Sri Lanka.
