It is sheer madness to write a New Constitution to Sri Lanka now.

Voters  for the 8th January,2015 Presidential Election
Voting  for the General Election August,2015

The President Sirisena and Prime Minster Ranil Wickramasinghe are overwhelmingly happy they have brought democracy back to Sri Lanka and opened  the country to the friendly Nations of the West. The USA and the West reciprocate with gratitude the part played by the duo along with their sleeping pawn Chandrika who awakens at the click of fingers by her USA and western masters to carry out their agenda of regime change to make Sri Lanka one of their puppet States of the developing countries.

Sri Lanka is nominally run by the UNP in partnership with the traitors of the SLFP, the  pseudo Marxist JVP in partnership with capitalist UNP, the Tamil  TNA and the Muslim SLMC, but they are activated behind scene by USA and the West. President Sirisena in an interview with the BBC said categorically that he will not allow courts run by foreign Judges, lawyers, and prosecutors to adjudicate the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka for war crimes if committed in the final phase of the terrorist war. He said he has confidence in the Judicial System of Sri Lanka to have its own courts for the purpose.

It is rightly so, but  his Prime Minister  and his Foreign Minister  had in their extreme foolishness sponsored the USA resolution that demanded the establishment of such courts to bring to trial the Sri Lanka Armed forces. But USA refuses to take no for an answer and insists through its Ambassador to the UN HRCouncil Keith Harper that Sri Lanka must have foreign judges in the accountability process to make it credible.

President Sirisena should stand on his determination to have the accountability process conducted in his way without giving into the high handed method used by USA. Sri Lanka should  inform USA that if  it continues its undue pressure on Sri Lanka with regard to the resolution it had passed at the UNHR Council in Geneva,  Sri Lanka will help Pakistan in the resolution  it proposes to present at the UNHR Council against  USA for the violation of human rights and civilian death by use of unmanned Drone attacks.

USA should not be allowed to go Scott free without getting it to first account for its many violations of human rights and civilian deaths in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq,  Libya etc.  It is time that USA is confronted with opposition by developing countries which are continued to be harassed by USA, and the West with its NATO Forces.

Sri Lanka Government of Sirisena-Ranil after the change of regime has gone haywire with its delirium to make the previous regime of Mahinda Rajapkase unpopular amoung the people, by scaling down strong  security measures  the previous government of President Mahinda Rajapakse had set up to stop any untoward incidents that would be rehearsed by  the TNA, the pro terrorist Tamils of the diaspora to carry out a division of Sri Lanka into Communal Groups.

Mahinda Rajapakse was seeking for a reconciliation of the Communities, the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslims, as a one Nation of people removing from their minds  their ugly Communal separatism.

To day with the military being weakened in the North and East, and many important ministries in the hands of the Tamils and Muslims, the TNA and allied Tamil politicians are taking advantage of the situation  to have a separate Eelam or as a first step to separate  a region for Tamils.  The demands of the Tamils for separation  has increased.  If left without firm action to stop the trend the situation will be uncontrollable and writing a new Constitution to Sri Lanka will be giving into these separatist Tamils.
Danger signals begin to appear. Wigneswaran the Chief Minister of the NPC calls for shared sovereignty : “…….The principles and specific constitutional provisions that the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) considers to be paramount to the resolution of the national question relates mainly to the sharing of the powers of governance through a shared sovereignty amongst the peoples who inhabit this island……..“ And devolution of power on the basis of shared sovereignty shall necessarily be over land, law and order, socio-economic development including health and education, resources and fiscal powers,” .
While  Sumanthiran of  TNA, says that the only solution, to the national problem  could be the  devolution of power.  He adds, “ ..we hope the new Constitution will address this issue “, … the need for a new constitution is felt by all in that the process will lay the ground  for a new arrangement.  The minority seeks power devolution arrangement to give autonomy to the traditional Tamil regions in the North and east of the Island.”
In this climate of enhanced vociferous Tamil demand for separatism it would be madness to take the question of writing a New Constitution to Sri Lanka.
If there would be opposition in the South to giving into Tamil demands, there may be “dormant” terrorists who may wake up for a resurgence of still un-concluded terrorism.
Is this what the President Sirisena wants ?
Ranil Wickramasinghe will not mind the after effect of his haste for a new Constitution to please the demands of the West. The intension of the west and USA is the fulfilment of  its agenda of separatism with a separate Tamil only region in Sri Lanka
This intension of the West is highlighted by Yasmin Sooka’s demand for Tamil minority rights repeating continued sexual harassment of Tamil women in the North and East. Yasmin Sooka calls for international action to stop ongoing sexual violence by the security forces against Tamil Women, which she stresses is  "not random" but "systematic”.
Sooka is a good friend of  the former UN High Commissioner of Human rights Navi Pillai, and the UNHRCouncils 250 page report is undoubtedly Navi Pillay’s work.  Sooka is working  to make Navi Pillay’s dream come true.
Sooka’s intension is to make the International Community aware of difficult conditions the Tamils are going through in living in a country with a Sinhala majority and to make the International Community intervene  with the Government of Sri Lanka to inform of the right of the Sri Lanka Tamils for  self determination, and set up their own Eelam State. Intention is clear and no new Constitution will stop this continued agitation for separation.
The only way for a real reconciliation of the different Communities in Sri Lanka is through a mental adjustment to reconciliation, which is not possible through political solutions.  Such a change of mental adjustment to seek reconciliation as human beings is not acceptable to Tamils.  Therefore there is no alternative for the government and the Sinhala majority other than to treat the Tamils in the same manner, and refuse to reconcile with the  Tamils under their conditions.
In Derana TV Debate Salakuna Dilan Perera, the State Minister  of Highways stated that he is against anti Tamil and anti Muslim demonstrations, and he says he would counter the new Sinhala National formation of “Sinha Le” by distributing badges  saying the blood of the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslims is the same.
That is the failure of the Sinhala majority to understand unreasonable demands of Tamils and the thirty years of terrorism.  The State Minister  is trying to be reasonable without understanding  the stubborn mental makeup of the Tamils.  The Tamils are like Shylock in Sakespeare’s Merchant of Venice.
The Tamils want separation and nothing else, and if the Sinhala people keep on pacifying the Tamils hoping that they will change their minds,  it would be a continued error of comprehension of Tamil minds.   That was the mistake  Mahinda Rajapakse did by contributing  to the North  by infrastructure development, building Hospitals, schools and even preparing projects to divert fresh water to Jaffna, hoping that Tamils are susceptible to change  in the face of  kindness and generosity.
The Tamils will never understand that the essential human nature is to be selfless for the greater object of unity with the rest of the people.  It is a waste of time trying to win over the Tamils.
The Sinhala Buddhists know that form and mind are two different items .  The form is essentially of impermanent nature, and that it is the mind that should be utilised for  being  in relation with others.  The Tamils, Muslims or Christians will not understand that having  been taught to understand that the human relation is outside self through the intervention of  a greater being.
The Sinhala Buddhists have tried to instil in the minds of the Tamils that  the essential human nature is within them.  Bu it is like throwing pearls before swine.   Hence they have to be told that there is Sinhala Opposition to impossible demands of the Tamils and Muslims.  Therefore Sinhala Buddhist Movements against Tamil and Muslim demands should be accepted and encouraged.
It is time that the President Maithripala Sirisena too understands this  before it is too late.  He should give up his hunt for thieves and  the corrupt in the Rajapaksa family and  turn to get rid of the greater danger to Sri Lanka by putting both Tamils and Muslims in their place.
There is no immediate necessity to write a new Constitution to Sri Lanka.  Ranil Wickramasinghe has not been given a mandate by the people  to write a new Constitution.  If one  looks up the map of Sri Lanka voting trend  at the General election of August,2015 one would see  who had voted UNP at the General election.
It is  clear the votes have come from the North , East and Muslims from  other places in Sri Lanka.  The Majority of the Sinhala Buddhists have not voted for UNP and therefore  Ranil Wickramasinghe cannot decide to write a Constitution before consulting the people.
The  present Constitution  had been of great use in the fight against terrorism.  The Executive Presidency should be maintained for some more time.  The 13th Amendment should be totally removed.  And in implementing the 19th Amendment the Police Commission should act immediately to remove  Ranil Wickramasinghe’s FCID.  The police can take over its work; FCID has become an institution  “hors norme”-above the Police and the Judiciary.  It creates fear in the people which is against democratic norms. FCID  makes   Sri Lanka  a Police State.
Writing a new Constitution would be to open the Pandora’s box.  Therefore, President Maithripala Sirisena putting his undue gratitude to Ranil Wickramasinghe and Chandrika for his election as the President, should wake up to his duty towards his country Sri Lanka
The present constitution is still workable and any issue  not covered in the present Constitution  could be added to it by Amendments, or any  unworkable provision deleted as well.  Ranil Wickramasinghe should not be allowed to decide  to write a New Constitution to Sri Lanka now.
A Constitution in any Country is for the Majority and to safeguard the culture and religion of the majority.  The minorities have to accept the Constitution of the country.
There is much talk about Ekneligoda’s case  and many Soldiers and Officers of the Armed forces are unnecessary taken into custody.  Ekneligoda was known to have had connections with the LTTE and his wife  accuses Sri Lanka armed force for having arms of mass destruction.   There should be a dead body or  credible eye witnesses of the killing to take any one to custody.  But in the case of Ekneligod’s death  there was neither a dead body nor credible eye witnesses.

It is time that  Maithripala Sirisena steps in as an intelligent man and stop the unnecessary comedy of Ranil and UNP,  to govern Sri Lanka for which purpose whoever had elected him.  The President Sirisena cannot continue in his office  showing gratitude to Ranil and Chandrika.  He has to wake up and take reins of government into his hands and stop  Ranils’s determination to write a new Constitution for which he has received no mandate from the people.

Sri Lanka is Sinhala Country, Buddhism is its Official Religion.

Mihintale where Venerable Arihath Mahinda met King Devenapetissa

France is the country of the French, England the country of the English . Italy the country of the Italians and Germany the country of the Germans, India   the  country of the Indians, and Sri Lanka  the country of the Sinhala etc.

One cannot say the same about USA as the Original Americans  the Cherokee, Chippewa, Sioux,  Cheyenne, Comanche, Navajos, Apaches etc were chased away or decimated-  a genocide of the native Americans,  and  if one were to  read the history of America one would see that even  their history has been deprived to them. The Immigrant Europeans who came to America in 1620 and after, occupied the  land of the Indians to became the majority . Now with a  Constitution ratified in 1788 the European Immigrants have become the people of the  United States- the Americans. But now it is the country of the Americans.

France has its national flag, its national anthem, and its own language recognised as such in the French Constitutions, so has  England, Italy, Germany, even United States and others.  Each of these countries recognise the religion of the majority as the national religion, which is also Constitutionally protected. Nevertheless, its  citizens have  the freedom to practice a religion of their choice.  In  France  it was obligatory that even the names given to the children had to be taken from the calendar which had a name of a Christian Saint for each day. Now this practice has changed.

No country go by the minorities and do not share the country with different ethnic groups as separate communities. In France  too there were groups in Corse, Basque, Normandie, Alsace calling for  independence.  But they  never  overstepped the boundaries of French  nationalism.

These developed countries like USA and the countries of Europe do not allow political parties promoting minorities. In France there are Greeks, Italians, Russians, Algerians but they become members of  French National political parties and have no political parties by racial and religious denominations. If Barack Obama contested US Presidency from an Afro American Political Party he would have never been the President of United States. In Canada the Tamils who have accepted Canadian nationality have become members of Canadian Parliament.

The minorities become a part of the majority so to say in a country and are recognised as nationals of that country. Thereafter they respect the Constitution of that country and do not seek independence as separate ethnic groups.

Should not that be the norm every where including Sri Lanka ?

The Government of Australia told Muslims, “….Basically, people who don’t want to be Australians, and they don’t want to live by Australian values and understand them , well then they can basically clear off .”

In France before a citizenship is granted,  the applicant has to show that he is proficient  French.  Otherwise the applicant will have to learn to speak French before applying again for citizenship. It is the same in other European countries, and USA as well.

Sri Lanka is also a Sovereign State like France, Italy, Germany, United States and others.  Therefore it cannot be different. Sri Lanka is the country of the  Sinhala. The religion of the majority  Buddhism is Constitutionally protected.  Sri Lanka has its National flag, its National anthem sung in the language of the majority Sinhala.( though the people who did not  understand how to reconcile the Communities allowed it to be sung in Tamil)  Sri Lanka should recognise Sinhala as the national Language  and allow Tamil as a provincial language.

Sri Lanka had made the mistake since independence, forced by Tamil politicians,   to recognise minorities as separate communities.  They should not have given into Ponnambalam’s fifty fifty or Chelvanayagam’s demand for a Tamil Eelam and recognised Tamil Language along with Sinhala, and mutilate the National flag by adding a green and an orange stripe to represent the minorities. Unfortunately Sri Lanka is  continuing to sacrifice lot of  identifiable  national sovereign rights for one purpose of pacifying the minorities.

Reconciliation is not giving parts of the country to minorities to set up Communal provincial areas or devolve political rights that belong to the government.  At least now Sri Lanka has to stop being a country making sacrifices to reconcile with the minorities and stand firm to maintain its right as a sovereign State with its identifiable national rights and symbols.

It is the Tamils and Muslims who should recognise Sri Lanka as the Sinhala country and accept to live with the citizens of Sri Lanka as national entities.  The Tamils and Muslims have no right to claim provinces to be administered by themselves ,but help  build Sri Lanka as a unitary state which is the motherland of everyone living in it.

Sri Lanka Government should  recognise as an offence punishable for high treason,  any one demanding separation or asking special rights for  minority communities.  It is not the minority communities that have the right to decide on how  security of  the country and to the people should be maintained.

Sri Lanka should strengthen security by setting up military camps every where in Sri LankaSri Lanka should be put on a military footing as long as the Tamils demand separationist political solutions.  The government  should abolish all political parties  representing  minority Communities or religions of minorities.

Everyone who speaks for separation of communities in Sri Lanka should be arrested and imprisoned. No body should be allowed to make public statements  promoting minority communal rights.  Wigneshawaran, Sampanthan and the members of the TNA, Anandasangaree, and Muslim politicians such as Rauf Hakeem, Rashid Badiudin should be arrested and imprisoned if they continue their racist demands for separation.

Sri Lanka has three main Communities, the Sinhala , Tamil and Muslim. They represent Sri Lanka having Sinhala Nationality.  All Communities make up the Sinhala Nation.  All Communities should be proficient in Sinhala language.  But they should have the right to profess  any  religion or belief system.  Those who have another religious belief other than Buddhism should respect the National religion which is Buddhism.

In recent time the Tamils of the diaspora had begun rewriting the history of Sri Lanka.  In the Wikipedia in internet there are several diversification  or interpolation of the National history of Sri Lanka discrediting  its history and accepted historical documents such as the Mahavamsa.

Buddhism was introduced to Sri Lanka by Venerable Arahath Mahhinda Thero during the rein of King Devanampiyatissa in the third century before the current era. Then Sri Lanka was occupied by Sinhala people from north to South and East to West.  There are no historical remains to show Hinduism had existed in Sri Lanka before the arrival of Venerable Arahath Mahinda Thero.

There may have been Tamil incursions for plunder and theft, but that does no give credit to the fact that there were Tamils in Sri Lanka or Hinduism existed before the advent of Venerable Arahat Mahinda thero.

Hinduism had different divisions and before Hinduism there was Vedantism, and Jainism.  Therefore it is not possible even to say which existed in Sri Lanka and before which.  However, it is possible that Hinduism in some form or other existed in Sri Lanka before Chritianity and Islam. There were Indian ambassadors, and Hindu Sages in the courts of the Sinhala Kings. Later  there was a Tamil King who ruled in Anuradhapura from 205 to161before current era.

Christianity came to Sri Lanka in the first century of the present era- 72 AD.  Muslims were sea traders who often landed in Sri Lanka to buy or sell merchandise. The Portuguese, when they started using the seas around India and Sri Lanka chased away the Muslim traders.  The Muslims traders thus chased by the Portuguese came to Sinhala Kings and asked for protection. They were settled in the east and allowed to marry local women. That was in around 12th century.

Recognising provinces as Tamil or Muslim,  devolution of political power, giving police and land rights are not how real reconciliation of communities should be done.  These are only political manoeuvres to satisfy some Tamil and Muslim politicians.  Reconciliation should be for the welfare of the people of all communities sharing same rights and live as brothers and sisters of the  same country –the country of the Sinhala.  Reconciliation should not be  just to satisfy the Tamil and Muslim politicians.

It is  very important  for the people to understand what is really meant in the statement in the preamble to the Constitution of UNESCO:

“..Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed. ”

Do the Tamil and Muslim politicians of Sri Lanka understand the deep sense in this simple phrase ? If they have understood its meaning  they will not be calling for separation as means of reconciliation. This phrase should open the minds closed with hatred, desire for power, racial pride, and meaningless desire not to be second to  the other. Because its larger meaning is to be human to stretch one’s arms to clasp the other as an equal. It is to build a nation together which would be the real reconciliation amoung human beings.

To be  a human being  is above  being closed up in  prisons of Communality. To be a human being is greater than being a Sinhala, Tamil or Buddhist.

The phrase in the preamble to the constitution of UNESCO should also be a lesson to the Western political agents like John Kelly,  Hugo Swire coming from UK, and others from Netherland , Germany and France  etc, who come to Sri Lanka to talk about reconciliation with the minorities.

Is it the religion of the Tamils and Muslims that make them racial and hateful ?
The Sinhala, Tamils and Muslims have lived together for generations in Sri Lanka  without major social problems ,  why is it now that they want  separation as a means of reconciliation after having suffered  under an unwanted  terrorism ?

This idea of reconciliation according to Wigneshawaran, Sampanthan and  the TNA,  Anandasangaree, and the Muslim Rishad Badiudin who vandalises Sri Lanka forest reserves to find settlements for Muslims, and Rauf Hakeem  who demands a separate province for Muslims, should look inside into their own minds to intellectually understand  that meaningful  reconciliation cannot come about from outside but from inside.

Once mentally the problem of separation as a means of reconciliation is understood as a problem arising within oneself,  it is thereafter through friendly dialogue and the willingness to cohabit together as citizens of one unitary State, that answers could be found for reconciliation to  make Sri Lankans a happy nation living together in peace and security.

Therefore accept Sri Lanka as  a nation of Sinhala. The Sinhala, the Tamils and the Muslims are all a part of that one nation.  Let us salute the flag of our country and  Sing the National anthem together in Sinhala and let us profess our religion according to our choice freely without being a  cause of harassment or a disturbance to others.

Saturday 16 January 2016

Sirisena and Ranil are destructors, Mahinda and Gotabhaya were constructors.

Mithripala Sirisena has a subordinate mentality.  He cannot rise above that mental handicap.  He cannot even stand up against Ranil to say no to him.  Ranil is evil, he knows how to disarm his superiors, and take their place.  That he did with  President Chandrika Kumaratunga, when  Ranil  became her  Prime Minister. Ranil completely ignored the President and took her place by signing the CFA with the terrorist leader Prabhakaran, and went to USA to have lunch with George Bush.

Both Maithripala Sirisena- the Buddhist  and Ranil Wickramasinghe-the Christian, have no serious religious adherence.  They use religion as a label to  dupe the people to serve their political ends. Ranil Wickramasinghe  hypocritically stands before the  people as a Buddhist. Sirisena had no  qualms to have dinner with his President and friend and be treacherous  as to leave him secretly immediately after  to join his enemies behind his back.  You read such characters in stories, other than of course the well known Devadatte, even he appears too good to be compared to a vile character like Maithripala .

Sirisena did not stop at that, but went further to concoct absurdities to eliminate Mahinda Rajapakse from politics so that he will be rid of a feared rival. Sirisena has his  inferiority complex which makes him subservient with gratitude to  Ranil Wickramasinghe. Sirisena  was acting and speaking to please Ranil, as Mahinda Rajapakse was also Ranil’s rival for his ambition beyond the Presidency of Maithripala.

Though Maithripala is the President his inferiority  complex keeps  dragging him to his substandard character.  Ranil his Prime Minister is  a  western attired English speaking sahib a Colombo  social elite, while  the  President  Mahinda Rajapakase he left to become Ranil’s acolyte  has a far better personality, good looks, and  speaks English well.

How can Maithripala Sirisena who cannot stand up against Ranil Wickramasing and say “No” stand up to say no,  like his former leader Mahinda Rajapakse said  to the Foreign white political manipulators. The interfering USA and Western Agents are more at home with Ranil than Sirisena, they meet Sirisena for small talk, and leave him out  to talk to  Ranil about more important political manoeuvres to make Sri Lanka a  western colony.

Sirisena made a weak attempt to put his Prime Minister  Ranil Wickramasinghe  in place by asking him to sack the Governor of the Central Bank-Arjun Mahendran after the  bond scam, but Ranil completely ignored him and kept his friend and accomplice in backhand dealings as the Governor of the Central Bank.

The Governor of the Central Banka Arjun Mahendran is a useful man to have around  in charge of the Central Bank with a depleting economy under yahapalanaya. More so as Mahendran is said to have been a school friend of Raja Rajaratnam, who had sent some of his black money to be cleaned to the person who is now  the Finance Minister. It is also being talked about that the secret foreigner who parked one billion dollars in Sri Lanka may also be Raja Rajaratnam.

Mitripala Sirisena’s subservience and dependence on his Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe  was demonstrated  in an interview Maithripala Sirisena the President  had  with Prasad Gunawardhane of the Weekend Nation on 9th January,2016. The President had said that , “……present Government of Unity between him and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe would continue the full term till 2020, and dismissed speculation that it would end after two years……..the President warned sections which may attempt to disrupt his Government using undemocratic methods and stressed that  he and the  Prime Minister considered the interests and future of the country over party politics. ‘The people have given us a mandate to rule for five years and we both will not allow anyone to destabilize the country through undemocratic  methods’  Later on he said, “ ….. The Prime Minister and I are committed to building the nation. That’s our priority and not politics.”
Asked  whether he was happy about the foreign policy, President Sirisena  says” ……The Prime Minister and I are much concerned about improving Sri Lanka’s relations with the international community.” When President was told that people complain that he is slow in acting against corrupt persons and asked, “why he do you not speed up the process, he said……
“….The Prime Minister and I do not interfere with the law enforcement authorities. ………. The Prime Minister and I practice disciplined policies in governance. That is why my government is titled Yahapalanaya (Good Governance).”
The interview was with the President, but yet  in this interview  we see how much this poor man the President Sirisena  cannot even face an interview without being under the dominating  shadow of his Prime Minister.  Sirisena the President is  dependent on his Prime Minister Ranil Wickraasinghe, and cannot be separated from him, to take any independent decision of his own. President Sirisena is a sad spectator of the damages his Prime Minister is  doing to Sri Lanka.
President Maithripala Sirisen is aware of  the criminal activities of the torture camps of Batalanda under Ranil Wickramasinghe from 1988 to 1999,  when Ranil  was a senior Minister of President Ranasinghe Premadasa. http://www.asiantribune.com/news/2005/10/17/batalanda-and-ranil-%E2%80%93-lot-explanations-needed
and Ranil Wickramasinghe was accused  for the raid of the Millinium City complex, when he was the Prime Minister under President Chandrika Kumaratunga. (http://sftruth2010.blogspot.fr/2010/01/arrest-ranil-wickramasinghe.html)
President Maithripala Sirisena himself  had accused Ranil Wickramasinghe for  having played a part in the assassination of Gamini Dissanayake,: “On August 2012, Minister of Health and SLFP general secretary Maithripala Sirisena  alleged that during the 1994 presidential election  campaign, all campaign details concerning the UNP presidential candidate Gamini Dissanayake were being secretly passed on to his opponent, Chandrika Kumaratunga  by Wickremesinghe. Minister Sirisena made this disclosure while addressing an election committee meeting held at Siripura, Polonnaruwa. Sirisena asserted that he has ample proof to validate his claim and allegations. Consequently, both parties started to challenge each other for open media debates” (Wikipedia)
President Maithripala Sirisena who knew those past activities of his Prime Ministe Ranil Wickramasinghe has in  giving him a free hand , unchecked and unquestioned  to do as he wants to imperil the independence , sovereignty, and the unitary state of Sri Lanka,  is himself guilty of aiding and abetting the  activities of his Prime Ministy who continues like a bull in a china shop to damage Sri Lanka,  that had been saved from terrorism and developed to being a middle income country by the  former President Mahinda Rajapakse, his Defence Secretary and his Government.
The former President Mahinda Rajapakse,  became the President of Sri Lanka in 2005 due to the  collective good Karma of the people of Sri Lanka.  Mahinda Rajapakse as the President did not precipitate into taking military action against terrorism, but thought of giving the terrorist Prabhakaran a chance  by calling him to negotiate a peace settlement.
The people, who are now vociferous about corruption of the former President, and accuse him  for being a dictator and acting  for his own benefit to enrich himself and his family , should be ashamed of such pronouncements, as from the beginning Mahinda Rajapakse  demonstrated his respect for democracy and the freedom of the individual. When  JVP began its criminal activities in the South and later came under serious victimisation by JR and R Premadasa Governments it was Mahinda Rajapakse  who  defended them even taking reports of governments notoriety against the Sinhala youth in the south, to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
President Mahind Rajapakse did not chase after the corrupt and criminals of the previous governments of JR, Premadasa, and Chandrika.  He was friendly with Ranil Wickramasinghe and the JVP .  If he was a corrupt dictator , he would have taken action against the Ministers of the former UNP governments , Ranil Wickramasinghe and the JVP. But his main concern was eliminating terrorism and developing the country and often invited JVP and the UNP to join him.  But it was Ranil, the UNP and the JVP that refused his invitation.  If Mahinda Rajapakse had the intention of being a dictator and rob the country , he would not have invited them to join him.
The Present Yahapalanaya government is on the contrary a Dictatorship of the President Sirisena, Ranil Wickramasinghe , UNP and Chandrika . Their  main aim is to  take revenge from Mahinda Rajapakse, to eliminate his political standing with the people as a wise man, astute politician and a practical political visionary.
All developed countries in the world respect their former Presidents. They criticise them for their political errors, but remain respectful to them. But unfortunately people of  Sri Lanka which is a Buddhist country still lack  the human goodness to respect their Presidents, specially the one who rescued Sri Lanka from terrorist hell fire.
There are those who  join the destructive yahapalanaya crowd in denouncing Rajapakses as corrupt, giving little credit to Rajapakses who made Sri Lanka from what it was in 2005 to what it was the day before 8th January, 2015. During that period not only did the fear  psychosis that existed with imminent danger to life under terrorism ended , but also Sri Lanka saw a rapid development it had never seen before 2005 and since Independence in 1948.
Mahinda Rajapakse, from the day he was elected President in 2005, worked to find ways and means to release the people of Sri Lanka from nearly  30 years of suffering under terrorism. He gave  his brother Gotabhaya  a free hand to find the means to eliminate terrorism.  Gotabhaya got an extension of service to Sarath Fonseka who was due to retire, which Sarath Fonseka himself had requested of him, and coordinated the Armed Forces to finally eliminate terrorism.  In that Gotabhaya received the political support from the President Mahind Rajapakse, who ably kept away the pro-terrorist foreign Countries of the West from interfering to stop the military offensive against terrorism.
The war against terrorism was necessary for Sri Lanka which had suffered 30 years losing a considerable number of civilians of all ages and sex from all Communities , lost by assassination many  Government Ministers, Administrators, and a  number of Officers, soldiers, and men  from the three forces. The war was necessary for Sri Lanka a developing country which had lost  30 yea of development.   There were many countries like China, Russia, Pakistan, and to a lesser extent India which helped Sri Lanka in its effort to eliminate terrorism.
But the USA and countries of the West, UK, France, Germany, Norway, etc. who vow to media that they stand to eliminate terrorism from the world, were instead working with the pro terrorist Tamil diaspora to stop the war against terrorism in Sri Lanka. What a irony ?
When finally terrorism was eliminated  these Countries-the USA and the countries of the West, came to criticise and accuse Sri Lanka for ending terrorism.  USA and the West working with the pro-terrorist Tamil diaspora passed resolutions at the UN HR Council in Geneva accusing Sri Lanka for war crimes.  Sri Lanka which found the intolerable moral decadence of USA and West in accusing a developing country which single handed eliminated terrorism by a necessary military offensive without any help from them, had to look for real friends else where.
Elimination of terrorism and unfortunate civilian deaths that are collateral to military offensive against terrorism cannot by any stretch of imagination be called war crimes.  But that is what it has come to with USA itself a violator of human rights passing a resolution at the UNHR Council in Geneva. And  wht is most absurd is that Ranil Wickramasinghe the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka  has sponsored this resolution
The result was Sri Lanka  under Mahinda Rajapakse had befriended a large spectrum counties in the world and established diplomatic relations with them. Sri Lanka under Mahinda Rajapakse was not an isolated country.
China helped Sri Lanka in the infrastructure development and contributed in various ways to develop different projects in Sri LankaChina and Russia  generously supported  Sri Lanka when ever the necessity arose, specially when the pro terrorist western nations falsely attacked her  in various world forums.
The Friendly Nations of Sri Lanka helped  in the construction of  buildings, providing modern equipment to schools, hospitals and provided  training facilities in different  fields of development  After elimination of terrorism Sri Lanka was ready for various development projects.
The Armed Forces freed from  military operations  had to be found activities to make them useful to the country, help them release their after war psychological problems and begin normal lives in an environment of peace and freedom. Gotabhaya Rajapakse became a national hero both during and after terrorism. He found solution to the question of how to utilise the peace time Armed Forces as a useful investment for the development of the country.
Gotabhaya Rajapakse re-organised the Armed Forces, making them specialists in various occupations, such as construction work, urban development, setting up recreation centres, training them in agriculture, tourism, landscaping, and for leadership training to students entering Universities etc. The engineering section of the peace time armed forces gave life to ancient colonial buildings, by reconstruction and decoration.  The old towns of Colombo, and Galle were rebuilt without damaging the old distinctive architectural  form of the buildings.
Under Mahinda Rajapakse Buddhism too awakened and  Sri Lanka was once again bathed in fragrance of Buddha Dhamma. A Buddhist TV Chain had been established entirely for the purpose of disseminating Buddha  Dhamma to the world. Every full moon day Buddha Sermons were organised at the Temple Trees the Residence of the President Mahinda Rajapakse and televised for all television viewers.  New Temples and Dagabos were constructed , many young children  entered into Buddhist priesthood.
Sri Lanka developed under Rajapaksas,  and the USA and Western countries which hanged on to the Tamil diaspora for political purposes,  could not understand how the Rajapaksas who formed a government in 2005 when Sri Lanka was poor and  debilitated by an ongoing terrorism managed to eliminate terrorism and develop the country within a short time to become a middle income country.
This astonished and angered  the developed Western countries which depended on maintaining their leadership in the world depending on the poor undeveloped countries. If all countries were to follow Sri Lanka the developing countries would stop dependence on USA and the West, which would affect negatively the leadership of USA,  and they feared that they would be replaced by China and Russia, which were helping development of poor countries without putting conditions. The stage was set for USA and European countries to destabilise Sri Lanka and  find a workable method for  the change of  Rajapakse regime which was popular amoung the ordinary people.
The USA and the West began the initialization of regime change in Sri Lanka by awakening the dormant local destructive forces -Ranil Wickramasinghe  and UNP, Chandrika, Mangala Samaraweera and Rajitha Senaratne.  TNA and the SLMC were already active in that respect. Thus USA and the West found the  spring board for regime change .
Initially they had to break up the ruling political party led by Mahinda Rajapakse.  This was handled by the poisonous she cobra Chandrika , who spat her venom to catch the General Secretary  of the SLFP Maithripala Sirisena. He was the best catch  for the change of Rajapakse regime as he was already a weak element in the party, depressive not having been made the Prime Minister and waiting  for a chance to take revenge.  What more can Sirisena hope for other than try his chance to become the President of Sri Lanka by becoming  the common Presidential candidate of the opposition ?
Somehow the regime change was successfully completed and Maithripala Sirisena became the President. With him saw the swearing in  of  Ranil Wickramasinghe again as the Prime Minister to put Sri Lanka back on the old track of  descent to hell of poverty , disorder and colonialism.
Since the election of Sirisena as the President and Ranil swearing in  as the Prime Minister they began  a mission of destruction of  what Mahinda Rajapakse and Gotabhaya Rajpakse  had constructed  along with the government, Sri Lanka  Armed Forces , and well wishers and administrators.
Not having stopped at branding Mahinda Rajapakse, his family and all connected to him corrupt, they went on a spree of selling Sri Lanka to the West and India, distancing Sri Lanka from its friends China , Russia and the rest.  All that Rajapaksas constructed from 2005 to 2015 have now been destructed by Maithripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickramasinghe and the Yahapalanaya crowd. To cap it all Maithripalana Sirisena and Ranil Wickramasingha have given notice of passing laws to discipline and control the behaviour of Theravada Buddhist Monks. Since Maithripala Sirisena was elected the President no development work has been carried out,  not even a set of toilets  have been built.

The extract from the Island Editorial of 15 January,2016 sums it all up as follows:“An economic crisis is looming. Foreign reserves are dwindling and the rupee is tumbling. The educated youth are demanding jobs. Educational institutions, especially universities, are starved of funds. State-run hospitals are experiencing drug shortages. The cost of living has reached the stratosphere with people struggling to make ends meet. There is no solution in sight for the ever worsening public transport problems. The crime rate continues to rise; killings are reported almost daily. Corruption is eating into the vitals of society and the champions of good governance stand accused of crooked deals. And, instead of addressing these burning problems which warrant the urgent attention of the political authority, the government is worrying about indiscipline among Buddhist monks!...........”

This is not the time to write a new Constitution for Sri Lanka .

To day Sri Lanka is not  socially, politically and economically in a settled state for this Government to decide on  writing a new Constitution.  The Communities are divided as it had never been before, the Tamils are acting as  if they are already a Community apart.  Sampanthan who is critical of the  Sinhala majority, and fights  for the recognition of Tamils as a separate entity  cannot possible be recognised as the leader of the Opposition. In the mean time the Muslims are claiming a separate administration in line with the Tamil Community.
Normally the Opposition in a democratic system is “ a government in waiting “,  to replace the government in place in case of its defeat in Parliament, or as an alternative at the next Parliamentary election.  Is the opposition with Sampanthan as its leader and Anura Dissanayake the Chief Opposition Whip suitable for an alternative government ?
Bikkhus Ratana ,  Omalpe, (and Late Sobhita) are political monks, who were interested in the  political aspect of the country ,  can they therefore  be expected to look after the interest of Buddhism, because they helped Maitripala Sirisena and Rani Wickramasinghe mess up Sri Lanka?
Under the present government,  Sri Lanka has lost its independence. Whatever the President Maithripala Sirisena says about an existing good governance, the people knows that Sri Lanka is unrecognisably  changed from what it had been before.  There is no governance at all where the people could place their confidence. Sri Lanka is being shaped into a “banana State” of  foreign domination for the benefit of USA , the West and India
Sri Lanka is not being ruled according to the decisions taken by the Parliament of Sri Lanka, and its government,  but according to the dictates of USA , the West, India and Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al-Hussein. Ranil and Chandrika are the Agents representing the interests of the USA and the West.
UK is reorganising the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka in the North. India dictates whether Sri Lanka needs fighter planes or not. An agreement signed between Sri Lanka and Pakistan  for the purchase of fighter jets has been turned down by Sri Lanka on a demand made by India :
However, mere days after the deal was reported…. the deal had been cancelled. The reason for the cancellation of the deal is revealing of current diplomatic dynamics in South Asia. According to the Indian Express, the Sri Lankan government, led by President Maithripala Sirisena, cancelled its plans to purchase the JF-17s after a “diplomatic missive” from New Delhi suggesting that Colombo should refrain from adding these aircraft to its fleet.”
It has already been reported by the Reuters that,  an unidentified  European Investor has agreed to park  US$ one billion to help Sri Lanka  to  sore up forex-reserves and defend its currency.
Is Sri Lanka being sold to foreign interests ?
Security of Sri Lanka has completely broken down,  Maithripala Siriseana acts in his own interest to boost his ego since he has already lost his Presidential  powers to Ranil. He   releases lands for the Tamils, and releases terrorists who had been imprisoned.  He gives into the demands of the Tamil politicians, Wigneshawaran, and the Tamil diaspora for devolution of political power.
Maithripala Sirisena who says that wearing a trouser or a white shirt does not make a gentleman, is not a gentleman himself,  having stabbed his leader on the back to fulfil his political ambition and join a set of politicians completely opposed to the development of Sri Lanka as an independent Sovereign State. Maithripala Sirisena, Ranil and Chandrika are all self seeking individuals, full of personality belief(sakkaya ditti).
Therefore, they cannot be depended  as patriots who will act in the interest of the country. We cannot depend on them  to preserve Sri Lanka’s Sinhala  Buddhist cultural tradition, which is what is special about Sri Lanka.  It is what which distinguishes Sri Lanka from India, or  a Muslim or a Christian Country.
how much is  one of these old constitutions , I like to buy one inspire myself .
It want be as expensive  as the one you are writing Mr. Deputy. you see where they end up ?

The existing Constitution had served Sri Lanka through its  most difficult period of time and it should not be shelved in preference to a “patch up” Constitution to satisfy the wants of only a selected  group of people of Sri Lanka or USA or the West. At the time JR Jayawardhana wrote the Constitution of 1978, the country was still not divided as it is today and there was at least a semblance of unity amoung the Communities.  The same cannot be said of Sri Lanka under yahapalanaya.
The present government with Sirisena –Ranil and Chandrika at its head has one thing in its mind , which is to make the people of Sri Lanka forget what Sri Lanka was under Mahinda Rajapakse from 2005 to 2015 (a peaceful vibrant  developing country)
It is only a popular government of the people which  could write a new Constitution if  it desires, but the present government of President Maithripala Sirisena and Ranil wickramasinghe, is not a popular government. They have  just  managed to group together self interested,  bought over political individuals from few other political  parties and call themselves a national government.
President Maithripala Sirisena did  not  get the popular vote of the people of Sri Lanka as a whole. Sirisena  was elected President   because the Tamils  in the North and East, and the Muslims and Catholics elsewhere voted en block for him, and Ranil formed his government after the Parliamentary elections  with the TNA-which got the majority Tamil votes from the North and the East.
Yahapalanaya government of Maithripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickramasingha is not a popular government of the people, therefore this government has no mandate of the people to write a New Constitution to Sri Lanka
The people of Sri Lanka has other hides to beat than think of a new Constitution.  The cost of living is unbearably high, prices of consumable articles have risen beyond the reach of  the people, unemployment is  soaring, there is dissatisfaction in the hearts of the people,  they do not want the Yahapalanaya government any more, but they have no alternative and are therefore forced to put up with it.
Yet Maithripala has overlooked every thing to dump a new Constitution on the people.
A steering Committee has been named by the Prime Minister for the purpose of the preparation of the New Constitution.  The members of the Committee had been selected by Ranil Wickramasinghe- the Prime Minister and they do  not represent the  political view of all sections of the people.  There is doubt about the honesty of the man selected to write the Constitution  Dr. Jayampati Wickramaratne.  Abeyrata.com reported as follows:
“Will President’s Counsel Dr.Jayampathi Wickramaratne reveal to the public why he was suspended from Peradeniya University in the final year (1972), just before he could sit for the Bachelor of Science Special Degree in Chemistry?  Wickramaratne is the Presidential Advisor on Constitutional Affairs  and also one of the members of Yahapalana  Sirisena’s much publicized “Special Commission to Probe Corruption.”  Apeyrata has reliably unearthed Wickramaratne’s history: he  allegedly has cheated at exams by illegally obtaining question papers.   Report says “Finally, he got caught and got suspended”.Wickramaratne has been accused of  conveniently erasing his entire 4 years at Peradeniya from his CV.  “After being thrown out of Peradeniya, he went to Law College” the report says.  Did he continue with his cheating ways at Law College too?  Did he buy question papers before the exams? We also ask: Is someone who got suspended from the nation’s highest institution of education for cheating fit to serve on such a commission or even get any type of government position?....” http://www.lankaweb.com/news/items/2015/02/28/suspended-exam-cheat-is-on-sirisenas-special-commission-to-probe-corruption/comment-page-1/

If there are even rumours of the honesty of a man selected  to write or be a member of a team to write the Constitution, should he be considered suitable to write the Constitution of Sri Lanka ?
This government has appointed to important places people on whom people cannot place their confidence , such as the Governor of the Central Bank. The Yahapalanay Government falsely accuses the personnel of the previous government of Mahainda Rajapakse, without investigating the offenders on their side.
In the case of the Journalist Eknaligoda, army officers are being taken for questioning, when there are doubts of involvement of even one of the important Ministers of yahapalanaya about a letter written by Ekneligoda to  lankaenews website on 8th December, 2009 exposing the Minister’s private life. Has the FCID investigated  the issue ?

Both the President Sirisena and his Prime Minister RanilW gives much publicity that Sri Lanka which  was sidelined by the International Community , has been brought back into its fold.  Of course the International Community was enemies of Sri Lanka during  the period of terrorism against which the previous President Mahinda Rajapakse was fighting.
But at what a cost did Maithripala Sirisena, and Ranil Wickramasinghe bring  Sri Lanka back into the fold of the International Community ?
This is how they did it, first they started pacifying India giving it every thing it demanded, such as distancing Sri Lanka from China, allowing CEPA or ECTA agreement to extend Indian services employment  sector to Sri Lanka, building a tunnel and a road to join Tamil Nadu to North of Sri Lanka, and very thankfully accepting USA and UNHRC Geneva Resolution to set up a hybrid  court with foreign lawyers, judges, and prosecutors to try  the Armed Forces for war crimes.
Under these circumstances, can this Government of Sirisena and Ranil still be trusted to write  a new Constitution to Sri Lanka ?
It was the International Community which discouraged Sri Lanka under President Mahinda Rajapakse from taking a military solution against terrorism, and demanded that the government come to a peace settlement.  If Sri Lanka Government under President Mahind Rajapakse was bootliking the USA and the West, like Maithripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickramasinghe and accepted the demand of the West, we would  have never been able to eliminate terrorism from Sri Lanka.
Another fallacy the yahapalanaya government and its supporters, are  vociferous about  is the democratic  right the journalists now have under yahpalanaya to write, say or criticise this government without fear of being killed or taken in a  White Van.  But the fact was that   there was neither a white van culture, nor a censure of free speech in Sri Lanka under  President Mahinda Rajapakse, and if there was one it cannot be put as imposed by Mahinda Rajapakse.
So called democratic freedom to speak  under yahapalanaya is utterly  false.  In the Parliament to-day the real opposition to government is the 53 Parliamentarians led by Dinesh Gunawardhana.  But their right to speech is drastically reduced to about 8 minutes to each.  They are unable to stand up and speak freely about this government’s  undemocratic activities which have affected  the Sovereignty of Sri Lanka.  The Government of Maithripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickramsinghe has become a Police State, though they keep saying that there is  democratic right to free speech under yahapalanaya government.
It seems even the  speaker of the Parliament is not  free to make an independent ruling in the House ?  It is the Prime Minister who decides for him.  As it is any Constitution written under the aegis of this government of Maithripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickramasinghe will not be a suitable Constitution acceptable to the people of Sri Lanka. Therefore the writing of it has to be stopped.
Ranil Wickramasinge speaking at the ceremony to mark the One year of Yahapalanaya, said “…. Parliament will convene tomorrow (9) to prepare a constitution for the creation of a Constitutional Assembly and that good governance will be confirmed from there onwards”.
He stated that there are those who oppose the proposal being brought tomorrow as well as those who agree with it. “I think it is an attitude difference.”

Tomorrow we have to decide whether we change our attitude to go forward in the path of good governance or whether we continue to remain stuck in the same old politics which was rejected by the public, he said. We who have come this far will not give up the fight.”

But where then is the democratic right of consulting other parties as to the wisdom of writing a Constitution now ?

It is in the interest of Sri Lanka that they- Maithripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickramasinghe   “change attitude  to go forward in the path of good governance”, because with a police force, a bribery commission and a Commission of Presidential Inquiry the country is not free and all those who had contributed to make this country what it was until the 8th January,2015, are being constantly put into embarrassment by being arrested and questioned  on false charges, and the government since 8th January,2015 has not gone one inch forward on the path of progress and development.
Maithripala Sirisena the President says , if people want to keep the executive presidency because it helped to win the 26 year war, then what it means is that they expect another war.  He has got it all wrong because the threat of  terrorism raising its ugly head again cannot be ruled out under the present climate of the government surrendering all its rights to the North and East, and allowing the Tamil separatists to openly canvass for separation.

Sirisena cannot be assured of the Tamils giving up their demand for separation now, because he has  reduced the military in the North and East and released lands to the Tamils and allowed former terrorists to leave the prison.   C.V.K Sivagnanam the Chairman of the NPC has said in an interview, “….. as citizens of this country we want equal opportunity and on devolution, we should have particular rights to administer ourselves within our North and Eastern territory. Of course there are those who feel that the North and East cannot be merged and certainly they are entitled to say that. We are also on the other hand entitled to say that we want it” .

Sri Lanka  has lost its Sovereignty and has become  a  colony of   USA, the West and  India.
Ranil said referring to the former Government of President Mahinda Rajapakse ,  as rejected by the public, which is not true as it was only a small population of the Sinhala Buddhists  along with the Sinhala block vote of UNP who voted for the yahapalanay, but the Maithripala Sirisena and UNP was really elected by  the Tamil votes of the North and East and the Muslim votes.

Therefore, this Government is not a popular government of the people of Sri Lanka. It has no  confidence of the people of Sri Lanka.  Therefore Maithripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickramasinghe have not the mandate of the people to write a new Constitution to Sri Lanka. They should stop it without adding further to the mess into which they have pushed Sri Lanka
